We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebenezer Eferobor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ebenezer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always enjoy creating opportunities, fulfilling a need, or developing assets that I can point to as the fruit of my work. That is what music and the arts have given me. A way to bring friends and colleagues
together with the goal of birthing an idea and nurturing it to meet a need, or fill a void.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a composer and a sound designer. I create music and also do a lot of sound and dialogue editorial work with emerging directors for their films. I also work as a composer assistant at Moon Road Music, helping with audio editing and studio library management. I am most proud of the little boy whose dreams have led to amazing collaborations and recognitions internationally. I am very proud of my work on Confessions, The Biting Tree, and Eldritch. I am also very proud of my work in creating the musical score for Holding Back, and Dragnet Girl. I love creating solutions, pathways for opportunities, and I value relationships a lot. I am a very relational person, and love to meet people where they are regardless of social status or time of day. When I meet a person on Monday and I see them again on Wednesday, I never assume that those two persons are the same. I always attempt to listen to the person in front of me. One of the things I find helpful in my journey is my curiosity to learn, and my honesty towards personal growth. I ask a lot of questions. I also find client relationships to be the most important and enjoyable part of my job. This is the part I find most interesting because I genuinely love to learn about people, their backgrounds, and their daily life. There’s so much that informs a person’s art and as much as they’re willing to share, I find it very helpful in my work.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So there are there places in Burbank that I must take them to eat. These are Tocaya, Something Vegan, and Slices. All three of these places are all within a mile of each other and I just love the atmosphere in each of those establishments. There is also an Ethiopian restaurant in Mid City called Merkato, we have to go there even if it is just for the fish. We will end the night every day by going to the 24-hour donut shop on Magnolia in Burbank. They have to try the fresh donuts. Lastly, I would also take my hypothetical friend to go see Eagle Rock, and Griffith Park. And then there is the usual things you do such as going to see a movie or shopping in Tarantino’s theater or the malls in downtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I value relationships a lot, and I would like to give a shoutout to Kenny Wood and Shie Rozow, two awesome guys who do a lot of amazing work. I met Kenny in the summer of 2022, and Kenny connected me with an opportunity immediately without me asking. He had spoken to a colleague and had given them my information. I owe a lot to Kenny, he gave me my start in this ultra competitive industry. I will also like to give a shoutout to Alexandra Fehrman, Christina Wen, Jared Fellows, and Jason Coleman. All of whom are either at the top of their game or are on their way there. They still find the time to invest in me and mentor me through different situations. Obviously, there is a lot more I want to mention, I could fill a whole page with just names.
