Meet Ed Ward | Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ed Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ed, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The band ASE was created with an artistic vision influenced by a passion for music. At the time (2017), I had been in and out of bands and playing multiple instruments since I was about 12 years old. After my last band had fell apart, it was at that moment I realized that I had an opportunity and the creative freedom to begin composing my own music independently.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
‘ASE’ or ‘A Sleepless Endeavor’ started out as a very small operation. It began with just myself, an acoustic guitar, and a dream to write out my emotions onto paper in hopes to be heard by others and relate to someone who may be struggling with some of the same things that I was at the time. I would say that I am most proud of how far we have come since 2017. From performing solo acoustic shows in people’s basements, to being offered to open/headline for well known acts as a full band. From ameture studio recordings, to fully produced hits, ASE has certainly come a long way. Some of the biggest hurdles I’ve encountered throughout this journey would have to be the digital marketing aspect, finding the right members to be a part of ASE, and funding. All of these things were crucial in order to keep this band running. Throughout the years, It was very difficult to build our brand and influence music listeners to give our songs a chance. Fast forward to now, we are gaining new listeners everyday, which we couldn’t be more grateful for. We want the world to know that ASE’s mission is to deliver meaningful and passionate music that resonates with listeners. We absolutely love what we do, and whether you’ve come to see us live in concert or if you’re listening to us in your headphones, you are loved and appreciated more than you could ever know.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are from New Jersey, so of course we would have to show our best friends the Jersey Shore! The beaches here are beautiful, along with some of the best bars and italian food you could dream of. The shore also holds some history to it as well. Those familiar with the hit TV show “Jersey Shore”, can see the famous house that the cast stayed in, and many locations where they had hung out were filmed here! Overall, the Seaside Heights boardwalk is a must see here in Jersey. Similar to Santa Monica Pier in California, we have amusement parks, merchandise, good food, and any drink you could imagine!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give the biggest shoutout to every single person who has taken time out of their day to stream our songs and come out to our concerts to support us. We can not do what we do without the fans who inspire us to continue making new music and persue this endeavor. We love and thank you all!
