We had the good fortune of connecting with Eden Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eden, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea of starting my own business sparked while I was working my 9 to 5 job. I knew what I didn’t want, I didn’t want to be behind a computer for the rest of my life. I also knew that I needed to feel more fulfillment within my days. I decided to save some money and start esthetician school part time. I was afraid yet excited to quit my stable Monday through Friday job and become the small business owner that I am today. I felt that I needed to take a chance on myself, otherwise I would live in regret. I trusted myself and never looked back.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets apart Sweetlash is that love is a motivating factor behind it. It’s more than just lash extensions or being in the beauty industry, it’s about being able to spread love and positivity to every client that walks in. I want to create an environment where clients feel safe enough to talk, vent, share stories, or simply just relax. This environment will hopefully carry on after they leave and they’ll be able to radiate that good energy to others- creating a domino effect. I want to make an impact even if it’s just in the smallest way. It’s not easy growing my business, especially when the pandemic hit. Having to find a way to manage with all the rules and regulations was tough, but all is accomplishable with true hard work and dedication. Something I’ve learned is to have tunnel vision when it comes to reaching goals, but to also enjoy the journey of getting there. I’m only 4 years in and I’m excited to continue to learn and grow in my industry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Crystal Cove hike in Laguna Beach lunch at Orange Sushi in Orange Thousand Steps Beach in Laguna Beach dessert at Euro Cafe in South Coast Metro area drinks at El Indio where my favorite dj AllieRockk spins at in Downtown Santa Ana go to On Top of the World and see the view of the city lights at night in Laguna Beach Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shoutout my Mom. She is my biggest supporter. She believes in all of my ideas and has never doubted me. Her hustle has always inspired me. She taught me to be self sufficient and always depend on myself for the things that I want. She deserves all the recognition. I would also like to shoutout 2 hard working estheticians that have inspired me from the jump: Alysha K. (owner of Fresh Faces OC) and Carolyna M. (owner of Pass The Sugar Studio) . They started their business before me and were able to guide me in the right directions when I was starting mine. They really inspire me to grow my business and have always helped me with anything I needed. Lastly, I would like to thank anyone that have taken a chance on me, mentioned my name, or have shouted me out. Simply anyone who has supported my small biz.
