Meet Edwin Arzu: Artist, Songwriter, Creative, Producer & Poet

We had the good fortune of connecting with Edwin Arzu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edwin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
There’s a power and without a doubt a fear when it comes to risk taking, but with those risky moments are the ones that push you past a ceiling you probably thought was solid. In my life and career its all been about risk, in a society where it tells one this is how you live life and then the people tell others if you don’t follow the rules, you’ll be living with no security, but what is security if your happiness isn’t secure? Taking risk made me leave the Bronx, become homeless in LA for a bit, but 2 years of hard work and i appreciate those moments I bet on myself, i couldn’t be where i am now if i didn’t take a shot in the dark. Even though times may seem really dark and bleak, there’s always yourself to count on.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i’m a musician, but i like to look at myself as a mixed media artist, being able to create an experience for those who are into my sound is the main important thing. I look at is a visual art gallery, weather its the music, poetry, the art work or the visuals my friends and I put together. I’ve grown as a person first, so it reflects on the art itself & thats what i’ve been the proudest of, self growth and being able to be okay with saying and expressing how i truly feel. We are all inspired by everything around us, but to take a second to step back and look at how much you’ve grown from the beginning is what has been driving me as of late.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
my best friend is actually coming into town, so i though of taking him to best smoothie spot, Body Energy Club in hollywood & then going to Comfort LA, but the most calm place to chill and just think about life is a nice hike at Eaton. Covid definitely messed up some of the fun, but everyone from the east coast loves a trip to the beach in February
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
DWY, Jsoundz, Benji, Dom Martin, Brian, Gabi, Punk Adams, Keyah, Tray, Sharina, Bridget, Love Mansuy, Los, Prince, Eko, Johanna & Kwame, i remember watching a netflix special about Clarence Avant and he said “I dont have problems, i have friends”, when i was in the toughest of times while figuring out my life, my friends helped me. They didn’t judge me, they gave me long lectures but always helped me move forward, i feel they keyword is acceptance, they allowed me to be me & see through my vision. If it wasn’t for their help i wouldn’t be where i am, so I thank them.
