We had the good fortune of connecting with Eilla Pradier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eilla, how do you think about risk?
I believe real change happens through moments where we dare to be bold, taking risks into unfamiliar areas. For one, deciding to start my own company, Eilla Adi Design, was a risk I took from leaving my work with Christian Dior, to leap into the unknown of creating a business from scratch. One of the best decisions I’ve done. Working for myself, I get the opportunity to create and design projects through conceptual stages, renovations, down to styling and decor.
More recently I took a risk within my own company, happy to announce I’ve started a custom pillow line! The pillow-line features designer grade fabrics, fun patterns, and high-end material while offering a sustainable product using local vendors. The pillow collection allows all individuals to access the product while keeping sustainability and supporting local craftsman at the forefront of my brand.
Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Being a visual person, design is something that follows me in everyday life. I started with painting and textiles, leading me to my passion, interior design. My company is heavily rooted in designing spaces that spark joy. My design concept is a foundation that sets me apart from others. I believe it’s not enough to just have a beautiful space; I’m looking to create spaces that enhance our daily lives. Function, comfort, and beauty, are all essential to building interiors we want to dwell in and surround ourselves with. Interior design is about creating a design that seamlessly fits into how we want to live, and for commercial settings, how we want people to interact with our space/product. I’m here to create interiors that ensure ultimate satisfaction, through a planned design seeking positive attributes as a deliverable.
Launching my new pillow line, is another element setting me apart, while also bringing me as a creator, tremendous joy! Sustainability and supporting local businesses is an important factor in the forefront of my brand. I used local craftsman located in Los Angeles to create the pillow inserts, while using deadstock fabric to promote sustainability through the pillow fabrics used. Throw pillows are a decor piece that enhances how we live, bringing comfort and decor to our homes. My pillow line is dedicated to giving us all the opportunity to seek a sustainable product while offering a pillow composed of a double-sided designs featuring luxury fabrics & hand-made craftsmanship.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A trip to CA deserves a top-down drive along the PCH! With offices in both Santa Monica and Newport Beach, I’d say, take a drive down the PCH to experience the beautiful ocean views. Abbott Kinney and Melrose are great locationed in LA, both to cruise around top interior design, street art, or try a new-hip restaurant. I’d recommend Newport Beach to explore the beautiful Back Bay, Crystal Cove Park, or a walk through Lido Isle. I highly going paddleboarding in the Back Bay of Newport Beach. You can’t go wrong with beautiful weather and being in nature!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband and family are monumental supporters in my life. Pushing me to follow my dreams and always believing in my full potential. Having their daily support, love, and encouragement is something I am monumentally grateful for. Working for myself, I’m always looking within for answers; running my business, innovating products, designing, to creating new opportunities. Having my husband and family believe in me, and push me through moments of doubt, helps me stay true to who I am.
