We had the good fortune of connecting with Eleanor Sison-Derbigny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eleanor, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always loved capturing special moments which started from my phone, then to Polaroid, to portable printer, to now our own Photobooth and Event Capture business. On the morning of January 3, 2018, God gave me a vision of Simply Photography and He made it happen. It started as a hobby, then “free” service, and later on became a passion for capturing important memories of others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Surprisingly, my career ended up in healthcare administration. My background is in Information Technology and for over 20 years now, I have been in the healthcare field. I have been in a frontline support role to an executive role in my career. It was not easy. I think that’s why I got to my hobbies that included photography to ease the challenges of my career development. Capturing the moments and seeing joy and happiness with each one of our clients are the best experience ever. I have learned to be resilient, patient, strong, humble and to never give up. Our brand is simple – uniqueness, special moments, family – it’s Simply Photography.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Drive to Grand Canyon
Day 2: Grand Canyon Tour
Day 3: Drive to Hoover Dam, then to Las Vegas
Day 4: Las Vegas Show
Day 5: Drive back to Los Angeles
Day 6: Stop at Barstow
Day 7: Eat some soul food from Dulan’s

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A big shout out to my husband, Philip Wayne Derbigny Sr for the unwavering support since the inception of Simply Photography in Los Angeles. He is my first photobooth assistant, and my consistent partner in business. In all of our events, he is my proofreader, design approver, photo tester, transporter, runner, greeter, and whatever support is needed, he is there. Also shout out to my parents, my friends and family who has supported us in this journey of entrepreneurship and networking.
