Meet Elijah Britton | Actor, Model & Student

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elijah Britton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elijah, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The importance of patience oh my goodness lol. Patience and time management. Its so funny in the entertainment industry you can go from doing absolutely nothing having your entire month booked solid in a matter of hours, so I’ve found time management can really make all the difference.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m currently a full time working Sports Lifestyle and Commercial Print Model , Actor. Growing up I honestly never saw myself being a model . I got into modeling just by chance I was running Track at Clemson University and because of that we have photographer’s there taking action shots from the meets for the school website and News paper. So I had just graduated college was living in Dallas my older sister had just moved to LA. So I came to vist her one weekend and never left lol.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so many things to do in Los Angeles, you really have to map out all the destinations and plan them out. I don’t think a week is long enough to be honest! When I first came to LA, a friend of mine took me to Griffith Park. At the top is Griffith Observatory, you have to check it out. There’s so much knowledge you can learn in there. From there, you can see downtown LA, the Hollywood sign, all the way to the coast if it were clear enough and the hiking trails are nice. Views for days. It’s pretty close to Hollywood boulevard, the walk of fame with the stars and their names. You can check out the Chinese Theatre, Grammy Museum, and all those touristy spots. Plenty of good eats there. When I’m downtown, I love checking out The Broad Museum. You can check out all the pop art, and it’s free admission! Next to it is the Walt Disney Concert hall, it’s a perfect photo op with it’s modern architecture. Absolutely stunning. Across the street is the Museum of Contemporary Art, they have free admissions now too. A block away is the Grand Central Market, a must visit for food connoisseurs. Eggslut is a favorite of mine. Honestly, I can go on forever. There’s the Getty Museum, gorgeous gardens and architecture and artwork. West Hollywood has great bars with strong drinks. I personally keep my drinking to a minimum. Venice beach boardwalk, Santa Monica pier during sunset. The list can go on forever! Los Angeles and the surrounding area is full of places to see and you need the time to feel the true California experience. It snows here too!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Many things in my life have shaped me into the man I am today. Being a Division 1 Athlete, Graduating from a top 25 University, being published in my first magazine ect. But I’d say if I had to choose a singular moment that shaped my life for the better. It would be when I was 7 years old. Growing up in the suburbs’ of El paso Tx there weren’t many people that looked like a me. Being a young black boy, when I was 7 years old my 2nd grade class was asked to draw what we wanted to be when we grew up. I remember saying that I wanted to be a Movie Star/Doctor, this was a moment I will never forget, a girl said to me ‘You can’t be a Movie Star your to black to be handsome’. I remember that was the moment I realized I was black, for the first time in my life, which was crazy lol. That evening sitting around the kitchen table I burst into tears. My mother asked what was wrong? I told her about my day, I remember her putting me on her lap, lightly brushed my braids from my eye so that she could look me in the face. “You are a King! with skin of coal and eyes of diamond’s and you can be whatever you want in this world my love and if anyone tells you different they don’t matter. The only people that you should allow in your life are people that Lead with love. Those words “Lead with Love” Are the words I try to live by, putting love first.
