We had the good fortune of connecting with Élishia Sharie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Élishia Sharie, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I begin every morning with this affirmation: “FEAR HAS NO POWER HERE.” This is my way of boldly telling ‘fear’ that it has no control over my life and the way that I choose to live it. Fear will not keep me from pursuing my dreams or the reason for my existence. My goal, through my music, is to inspire others to lead an empowered, fearless life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Neo Alternative Rock artist who creates music with the intent to inspire others to FIGHT! for their dreams and to live unapologetically in their purpose.
After a period of vocal loss, I wrote and released my first single called “FIGHT!”— a release that will always be my proudest moment, because after 12 years of rebuilding my vocal range and my confidence to perform again, I had finally won the battle against doubt and fear.
Music had been a huge part of my life, for my entire life, up until I lost my singing voice. I really struggled with why I was even on this planet, if I couldn’t do the very thing I’ve always known I was destined to do. It took a lot to overcome those thoughts and that challenging period in my life—it took a lot of internal work and love and encouragement from my husband, Jay. One lesson that I can say that I learned from that time in my life, and that continues to reaffirm itself throughout different stages of this musical journey is “perseverance knows no failure.” Everything that I have set out to achieve has either been achieved or I’m in position to achieve. I want people to listen to my music and know that I never gave up, never will give up, and that they shouldn’t give up on themselves either!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a fun question! We would definitely hit the beach! My favorite beach is Topanga Beach in Malibu—it’s beautiful, quiet, and not as crowded as some of the other beaches in Los Angeles. I’m sure I could give a looooong list of places to eat, because I love eating, but my top 3 places that I like to visit with friends from out-of-town (and just in general) are Aroma Coffee & Tea in North Hollywood, Blaqhaus in North Hollywood, and Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles (Hollywood or Inglewood locations). We would probably go shopping at the Hollywood & Highland Center, then hit Hollywood Blvd to do the “tourist thing” and to people watch :). As for a night on the town—now that venues are reopening (YAY)—we would have to check out a couple of shows at The Viper Room and at The Mint.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My talents, my drive, my creative intuition all flow from God. Shoutout to God for not only those blessings, but for the gifts that He has sent in human form—my husband, my parents, and my close friends—who have encouraged me, inspired me, and supported me throughout this unique journey. Without God and these people, I wouldn’t be here. Period.
