We had the good fortune of connecting with elizabeth blanchard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi elizabeth, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Portland, Oregon now living in Los Angeles, California. I love the Pacific Northwest but I love sunshine more, My mom always said I had a lot of that Portuguese-Hawaiian DNA from my dad! When I was young our family was hit with some pretty hard circumstances. Even though it was the worst time of my life, now as an adult, I can look back and see how it’s molded me into the strong person I am today. My mom raised her daughters to be resiliant and determined. When I was little I just thought she was being tough on us, but now as a mom myself, I get it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love all things beautiful. truly. While in my 20’s I was a professional cheerleader for the Raiders, and that’s where I discovered and became obsessed with yoga. I love the connection between our. spirit and body. The beauty of using the breath and movement as not only a way to heal your body but to heal your heart as well. i also love when I am given a creative challenge and have to turn a space into a magical and beautiful environment. An evironnment that doesn’t feel stuffy, but feels relaxing and warm. Anyone that knows me, knows how I love to throw a party or dinner and make it as gorgeous as possible. Leave the cooking to someone else and just let me create! Once I started helping friends out, it really grew from there just by referrals. 2 years ago I broke my leg, then broke the SAME leg again a year later. Not being able to move and create was really depressing. Once I was allowed to have a little weight on my leg, I went back to my Goddess Circle and literally scooted around on my butt decorating the space, preparing it for the ladies to come in. Mentally, just being there instead of the sofa deteriorating away physically and mentally, was exactly what my soul needed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well…first we would get coffee and quiche at Lou’s French on the Block in Burbank-,the BEST. Then from there, either Malibu, shopping around Los Feliz or Magnolia Blvd in Burbank where there are so many cute and unique spots to find treasures. I would then take them to one of my favorite Italian spots Little Tony’s in North Hollywood, The food is delicious and portions are big! THEN, of course, we would end the evening going to a Moon Circle at SATARA and sharing a little wine and treats with all of the women after-the sisterhood bond is amazing with these Goddesses.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
YES! The person that referred me to you guys-Rebecca Prephan. She really helped convince me that I am good at what I do. She gave me gentle nudges, encouragement and trust to listen to my intuition and go for it! Now I am the Creative Director for her space. Everything from decorating her retail and event space SATARA to teaching Gentle Candlight Yoga. there. ; From the moment I walked into her Goddess Moon Circle 6 years ago, I felt I was home. The work we do in our moon circles and the beautiful sisterhood that has been cultivated has gotten me through a rough few years.
