We had the good fortune of connecting with Ella Gaona and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ella, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I feel that a lot of people are unaware of the amount of time that goes into planning an event. Some will see another event stylist post on instagram or something on pinterest to use as reference thinking ” oh I can easily do this! “, but the creative process to incorporate all the little details to make it special, on top of setting it up the day of, doesn’t happen overnight.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started an event planning company called Take It From Here Events. I’ve planned a million bachelorette parties, bridal showers, surprise parties, birthdays, trips and get-togethers for years, and each time everyone would tell me I should really pursue this as a career. I didn’t really pay much attention to that until a friend offered to actually pay me to help coordinate/style her wedding, so after my ” first paid gig ” it gave me motivation I needed to really put 100% effort into this.
I am a HUGE Justin Timberlake fan, so I literally named my company after his song ” Take It From Here “. The message behind my company name is me wanting to be able to take the stress off my clients and in return they can fully enjoy their event. By hiring me I’d ” Take It From Here ” by planning, styling, coordinating and bringing to life the expectation of the special occasion they are celebrating.
Since I’ve started this company I’ve grown to see that the event planning community from the planners, food vendors, rental vendors, balloon vendors etc. all want to see each other win, and it’s not a competition. I love that everyone has the mentality that ” there is room for everyone at the top ” and help each other out when needed.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was not born and raised in LA, but I’ve been here for about 11 years now, so for anyone visiting I would definitely take them to downtown LA for some good food, to Runyon for the views and pictures for the gram and Malibu to hang out at the beach + fresh seafood!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love dedicate this interview to my daughter, Audrey Jaelynn. She is my reason for everything. I had her at a young age of 20, and since then, I’ve wanted nothing but to be able to provide her with things I never had growing up. These teen years crept on me real quick, and I want to make sure I’m able to be more present, and not miss out on anything before she graduates HS. I also want to show her that you can be successful no matter what age you decide to pursue a dream, as long as you work hard and put effort and time into it.
