We had the good fortune of connecting with Emara Grainger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emara, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
ENDURANCE BY E LLC was formed when I decided to take a huge risk and leap of faith. I discovered my true LOVE and PASSION for fitness during my maternity leave with my second daughter from my counseling job. I always imagined that I would retire from my rehabilitation counseling position at the hospital however, destiny had other plans. My BIGEST risk has been quitting my 9 to 5 masters level counseling job without any evidence that ENDURANCE BY E would ever exist. My journey has included many highs and lows. However, the most valuable thing that my journey has provided is the deepest and most fulfilling self discovery experience. I have discovered gifts and talents that I never knew were housed inside of me. I have went from being a counselor to a fitness professional, fashion designer and jewelry designer. The best part about my risk is that I get to show my 2 daughters that you can truly create the life your heart desires, that you don’t have to work for anyone else and that you are GREATER than your job. I believe risk are truly necessary and that you’ve never really lived until you’ve taken a few.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am a Wholistic Women’s Empowerment Coach who specializes in helping women live their most fulfilling life from the inside out. I offer one to one personal training, group fitness programs and fitness accountability programs. I also help women look their best with my handmade jewelry and fashions @wristpressions. What sets me apart from others is my deep passion for the work that I do and my ability to combine my fitness skills with my counseling skills to really help women dig deep and create new solutions. I am truly proud to be the first person in my immediate family to start a business and leave a traditional 9 to 5 job. This journey has been very challenging and parenting 2 young children while starting and continuing this journey has upped the challenge. I continue to overcome challenges by seeking support from positive people and mentors while continuing to be a support to others. My brand is for women by a woman and mother. I want women especially mothers to know that they can live their most fulfilling life if they are committed to working on themselves. I also want mothers to know that entrepreneurship is possible and that giving birth does not mean your dreams are over.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am very spontaneous when it comes to hanging out and find joy in so many different places. I would likely spend the week with my friend visiting random places on the fly. However, the walking the Brooklyn bridge and eating at Sweet Brooklyn Bar are a must.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My children deserve the biggest shoutout. My two daughters have supported, loved and encouraged me to keep going. They have assisted with marketing, creating and offered the most kind words even when business gets tough. My 7 year old Kylie always says “your the best coach mommy keep going”.
