Meet Emika Love | Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emika Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was “how can I do what I love for the rest of my life, while helping and touching as many peoples lives as possible.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m super proud and excited about the new EP I just dropped called “Jam & Toast.” It’s a unique genre mixing project that makes you feel good and an all around vibe of music. Getting to where I am today was not easy, but good things that last and are fruitful never come easy. It took lots of risk taking, sleepless nights, perseverance, hard work, and honestly just staying true and unapologetically Emika Love. Some lessons I’ve learned on the way is just do it, you had that crazy thought for a reason do it. Never be afraid of believing in yourself. The person that knows you the best is you. There is this one quote I absolutely love which is “to be in that 1%, you’ve got to do what the 99% don’t.” With putting the work, discipline, and having a strong mentality behind it, it will all play into line. What I want the world to know about me is that I do the work. That I’m always going to take a negative dim and turn it into a “look on the bright side” moment. That I’m kind, my natural self, strong, optimistic, and of course will always have bunch of smiles and laughs. And that I’m going to touch as many peoples lives I can through my art. And remind them to always be them and have lots of fun. That life is really once in a life time!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I wanted to show them the best time in a week I’d take them skydiving, jet skiing, to go play beach volleyball, go on a hike to a waterfall/waterhole, do a bonfire while make s’mores, go horse back riding, and then take them to one of my shows. Now as far as food I’d probably make them a seafood boil, take them to In N Out but have them get only meat cheese and peppers, Fixins which is originally from my hometown Sacramento, then take them to Philadelphia Cheesesteaks, and probably have my grandpa cook the rest of the time. Oh and of course make chocolate covered strawberries.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my siblings and parents for being the reason I go so hard. I would like to shoutout Coach Kim for being one of the most amazing mentors there is for young women and always preparing and teaching life lessons to me. Help shape me to the woman I am today. My PA Dee for always going above and beyond for me and being there. God for giving me everything I have and continue to bless me along being by my side. And last but definitely not least of course my Emika Empire for always rocking with me and supporting me through it all. Being the best, coolest supporters ever.
