We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
This is going to sound so cheesy but being your authentic self, whether it’s how you structure the behind-the-scenes of your business or how you interact with clients. There are so many creatives out there but YOU are what sets your business apart from the rest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I”m a freelance fashion and commercial photographer based in Chicago, Illinois. I work with amazing business owners, creatives, and brands to create interesting and unique imagery to bring their vision to life while still having a blast. I’m definitely drawn to clean, vibrant, and lighthearted work which I integrate into my own art.

I love making people feel empowered and confident through my work, during the shoot and in the final product. Photography is an extremely personal experience so genuinely enjoying spending time with your photographer and being comfortable is so important!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Along with my amazing family and friends, my college experience at Columbia College Chicago greatly impacted how I viewed myself as an artist. Being surrounded by creatives day in and day out was so inspiring for my work and outlook on making art for a living. Even though everyone’s aspirations and work varied, everyone had the drive to make it in the art industry, which we all know isn’t easy. Collaborating with my classmates and professors definitely shaped me into the artist I am today.
