Meet Emily Hill | Ceremonialist, channel and energetic poet

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Words are so powerful and there are many beautiful quotes that are food for my soul! One which comes to mind now is from my beutiful teacher, Deborah Hanekamp of Mama Medicine, who said “Let your work be bigger than you”. More aptly, Deborah shared that you have to let your “original essence” and its expression be bigger than you.

Last year I apprenticed with Deborah Hanekamp in her Apprenticeship of Original Essence or what has lightly been called “soul university”. I went into this powerful container to deepen of my spiritual exploration with the guidance of someone who truly “walks her talk”. What resulted was the creation of my offering, Butterfly Blessings. The mantra “Let your work in the wold be bigger than you” was an important anchor in this journey of becoming – having to get out of my own way, alchemise limitations and befriend my shadow as part of this emergence process.

If I make my work about the smallest parts of myself, I can become distracted by doubts, comparison, frustrations and uncertainty. When I remember that the work is “bigger than me” it means that I can let its creation nourish me as much as it nourishes others. I am able to re-anchor, re-centre and re-orientate with my original “why” for starting the buisness. I am free to let the work change – and to change me with it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The sessions and ceremonies I facilitate are creative at their core. We are inherently creative beings and are creating all the time – even when we are not aware of it conciously. In my work, I listen to the energy present and work with that to channel beauty and balance. When I speak of “beauty”, I am speaking to the frequency of wonder and sacredness which is within all of Life. The same energy within a seed which sparks it to grow or the magic of a baby as gestates within a mother. The same energy of potential which shines through each sunrise or the mystery of the expansive stars above. This is the kind of beauty is the energy I work with in my one on one Butterfly Blessing sessions. Butterfly Blessings celebrate, nourish and honor the unqiue beauty within your universal maigc.

In my group work, each ceremony is like a blank canvass. Each participant comes with their own energy, like a shade, hue or texture of paint. By coming together with a shared intention for the greatest good of all, we create a kind of “energetic painting” together in the ceremony. Through unifying our contrasts and resonance, we become something larger than our single selves. Like red and blue coming together to create purple, this is where new dreams are seeded into being. There is so much potential here. Unrepeatable and mysterious, each person’s presence becomes an essential and important element for each ceremony. In a time where there is so much dis-connection and disempowerment, each Butterfly Blessing Way ceremony reminds us of how truly connected we are and how each of us has so much power to create.
