We had the good fortune of connecting with Esnavi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Esnavi, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

I consider myself a risk taker because I’m not afraid of failure and the unknown.  Being open to taking some sort of risks helps you discover the limitless opportunities we have in life.  I’m a Top 40 Urban A/C Recording Artist turned organic skincare formulator, with a successful skincare brand.  I attribute a huge part of my success to taking risks.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

My business is ZEN by Esnavi – a botanical skincare brand that is 100% Clean, Vegan, Cruelty-Free & Organic. What sets my skincare brand apart from other natural skincare brands is that the formulations are truly 100% Clean. All of the ingredients are plant-based and non-toxic, so it’s rewarding to know I’m creating products that are good not only for our skin, but also good for our environment. I also approach customer service a bit different than most companies. I personally reach out directly to my customers and communicate with them to follow up on their experience with my products and to answer any questions to help them with their skin care needs. Lastly, I reward my top customers with specially curated gift packages at the end of the year as a special thank you for their business. It has taken extensive creativity and thinking out of the box to get where I am today organically. It has not been easy at all and I still have a long way to go, but I’m proud of my growth and what I’ve accomplished thus far. I overcome challenges by thinking of another way to achieve what I’m trying to accomplish. Hence, the extensive creativity required for me to stay afloat in this industry. This brand was developed and launched during the start of the pandemic with $500. I share that to say, anything is possible when you put your mind to it. Sounds cliche but it is so true!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Anyone coming to LA has to do the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and the touristy stuff on Hollywood Boulevard! That’s just a must for me along with going to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles. Catching a bite and drink at Catch LA and Here & Now would also be on our list. Catch LA is a vibe and any visitor needs to enjoy one of my favorite spots. Here & Now is chill and you can enjoy some outdoor entertainment in one of my favorite areas, the Art District. We’d have to make time to go for a hike, walk or run at Runyon Canyon and plan to visit El Matador State Beach to take in the stunning view of the surroundings from the clifftop. In my opinion, it is one of the best spots to capture the scenery around you. I’m all about self-care so a spa day at Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa would be a priority as well as trying to catch a concert at Hollywood Bowl. I’m pretty spontaneous, so everything else would just happen organically, but these places would definitely be on the itinerary.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Yes! My manager, Yaya Rey, has been instrumental in the success of my music career and business.
