We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Greenberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Evan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When young people begin their careers, a common phrase they use is “I want to learn.” Or when asked about how they like their job, they say “I’m learning a lot.”
Although I am a lifetime learner, as my career progressed, I found that I had learned some skills that allowed me to move from a learning phase to a performance phase of my career.
Starting with Facebook and Instagram ads, but now moving to other platforms, like Clubhouse, I found that I was able to offer this service to clients on an a la carte basis.
Performance/paid marketing is an example of a skill that should be in the tool belt of aspiring or mid-career marketers, but that many companies look to outsource on a contract basis.
Some other skills like this include website design, graphic design, SEO, etc. There is also the business development side of finding clients, but there are plenty of networking opportunities to meet companies. Companies are also being started that sit between the client and the contractor and bring clients to you.
This business is good for someone with a creative side and also an analytics/data side.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I tailor my trips to the friend, but we’d go to the Proper Hotel in Santa Monica, Scopa Italian Roots in Venice, Cava for a quick bite, and maybe a Dodgers game.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To Erin and the support we give each other.
