We had the good fortune of connecting with Evita Giron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evita, how do you think about risk?

I am all for taking risks when it comes to professional and personal growth. I think of risk taking as something that is good for our mind, body and heart. When it came down to the idea of me becoming a professional writer such as an Author, I was happy and relieved to have finally taken the steps that I did to publish my book. Years prior to that I started my journey as a freelance writer and left my work in higher education (full-time position in which I travelled domestically and internationally) to really practice and hone my craft as a beauty and lifestyle writer. This is something that I have wanted to do for a very long time and I finally had the ingenuity and faith to do it.

Taking risks helps you to feel free. Free of restrictions and fear of which could be holding you back from doing the things you love the most.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always been a writer. This is the first time that I actually felt like a real author and professional writer. I began my author journey in 2015 writing my first draft of The Girl With The Magical Curls. At that time there weren’t many books about hair, especially curly hair.

It was not easy getting to where I am today. I had a few setbacks when it came to the process of getting the book published however, I’m grateful for the path that brought me here today. Initially I wanted to go through a traditional publisher but in fear of rejection letters and not really wanting to go through that process, I decided to independently publishing my story, starting with Amazon-Kindle Desktop Publishing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to every curly girl out there!

I also want to dedicate this shoutout to the Dove company and my daughter Tatiana for being my inspiration to publish my first children’s book, The Girl With The Magical Curls. The Spanish version of my book is titled, La Nina con los Rizos Magicos.
