We had the good fortune of connecting with Falecia Dunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Falecia, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“All you have is all you need”. This is a powerful quote that I heard and live by. It’s a real understanding that there’s nothing external that you need and what’s within is enough. When it comes to starting a business, think first what do you already have? What ideas, materials, time, equipment, resources, do you already have and then take the next step from there.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a creative all my life since I was a kid. I never wanted to be a part of any other industry aside from entertainment. I believe my own uniqueness and voice sets me apart from others. On this journey I’ve been able to have many experiences both good and bad, but I’m most proud of how I’ve grown as a person. In an industry that’s so up and down it can be easy to get distracted. I realized that growing from the inside out has made the journey that much sweeter. I’m most excited nurturing a gift that I didn’t realize I had until last year and that’s my voice. I know it sounds silly but one I didn’t like my voice as a kid and now it’s the very thing God is using to expand my artistry by doing voiceover work. I love it!! All things need to be nurtured, especially our gifts. Whenever I’m faced with challenges I approach them with the understanding that perspective is important. How I look at a challenge matters, a challenge is an opportunity to grow. Life can sometimes be challenging, a quote I love says, when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change. I’ve learned a lot on this journey but the biggest lesson would have to be to trust the process.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend come visit me in LA we would definitely have to listen to some live music from some of the most talented musicians. Food would be a must, as I’m from Texas and good food is important to me lol. We could go to Bludso’s BBQ, it’s the closest to TX bbq I’ve found. Hiking has become a thing so we’d would have to add that on the to-do list along with going to the beach to relax. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely have to say beginning with my parents. My father has and always will be my inspiration and reason I decided to pursue arts and entertainment. My mother for her strong will to keep moving forward no matter what she was faced with. I get my tenacity from them both, I always wanted to do my own thing and be my own person, they both encouraged me to go after any dream. For that I’m thankful.
