We had the good fortune of connecting with Faviola Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Faviola, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind Femmesualidad was inspired by women showing themselves love on a daily basis regardless of her age, shape and sex. Being a Latina owned brand that promotes body positivity , we do not discriminate against any body type. We wanted to provide a safe space where women can be confident being Sexy! While promoting Women Empowerment and embracing her curves. Lingerie is classy. Its Feminine. Its Sexy. It’s her.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Aside of running Femmesualidad, I am also an accountant in the Medical industry. Graduated at the age of 16( as a Junior) and growing up as a DACA recipient, I was always challenged however never defeated. I always knew I was meant for more and battled all my odds until I accomplished what I set my mind to. I have always taken the challenges to my advantage and kept proving myself that anything can get done regardless of your past or your present. I started working as a server immediately right after I graduated and loved being independent and financially stable to support my family. Attended some college but I found it difficult to juggle class work with working two other jobs. I was able to explore many fields, like becoming a CNA, banking, tutoring, sales, yet my heart always wanted to help others and I belonged in the medical field. After many trial and error, I landed a job in accounting with Laser Eye Center/ Good Samaritan Hospital. This is where I flourished and mastered all the skills I had previously developed. Within my first months of employment, I was able to save and invest money in stocks which helped me fund Femmesualidad. In conclusion, I am proud for all my past challenges and experiences because I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love LA! If I had the chance to give one of my friends a tour, I would invite them to a morning Yoga Session with my good friend Kat owner of Ix_u, then go get breakfast to Claire’s at the museum in Long Beach in a luxurious car rental from Invision Rentals, then a spa day followed by drinks with a view at the Intercontinental in DTLA. This is a perfect day for me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so proud of what Femmesualidad has been able to create for other women. However, Femmesualidad wouldn’t be who we are without the continuous support of my right hand, my fiance Gilberto Montes. I love you! also the support of my creative friends that have been part of my vision since the beginning. Edgar Gamboa, my childhood friend and photographer, Eddie Venegas, creative and videographer; Shawn Ferjanec, photographer and creative, Alex Martinez creative and photographer and my brother Angel Hernandez photographer and co- owner of Invision Rentals. Also this is dedicated to all my Latina CEO’s that have collaborated with us through this journey, for our models, and for all our cust0mers. Es para ustedes tambien!
