We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Abrams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It came from necessity. I was newly divorced, newly sober with two small children to care for… My youngest daughter with Autism.. so I needed to start some kind of business…. As finances pressed in, I had to let my house cleaner go but I thought, “House Cleaning.. that’s a low to no start up cost type of company.” I offered Maria, my ex-cleaner, to work for a company I might form. She flaked but I did form the company and started cleaning myself. Eventually, I expanded my services. Today I offer Professional Organizing at about $250-$350 per hour per person. It took me 5 years to figure out how to make real money.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am also a hyper-realistic pencil artist. You can search “Samantha Abrams Denzel Pencil Art” on google to find the pencil rendering that was most fun to create. (Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHY95ns8bMI)

Drawing is therapy for me. It takes me out for hours as I work and upon completion, it feels like I’ve just come out of deep meditation.

I also host a secret comedy room in North Hollywood, from my apartment. Yes from my apartment and it’s been 5 years, every Thursday since 2016, barring the pandemic closer 2020. I pimped my living room out into a comedy club and it amazes me every week when the hottest LA talent and sometimes celeb comedians come to work out. www.speaklivecomedy.com

Also my favorite talent if writing. So naturally, I’m an author. Pretty proud of having my broken, only to examine what happened to my brain and eventually researching and writing what amounts to a neurology book about sex, love, lust and self-worth. Who knew! All that and it’s hilarious. Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/069210478X (5 Stars)

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would comedy club hop: Improv, Laugh Factory, Comedy Store, HaHa Cafe and my thursday night spot, @SpeakLiveComedy

Laughter is good to the body like medicine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Del Harrison (Delisa Harrison), comedian, actor and all around AMAZING person. This women knows how to genuinely SMILE even when the world is pushing down on everything around her. She is an encouragement. I’m inspired by her drive and work ethic, her bravery and sense of humor, and finally her sheer talent.
