We had the good fortune of connecting with FELIX IGORI RAMOS and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi FELIX, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
The lack of creativity and the lack of courage in the film industry is astounding. Most people I think just accept what the machine pumps out to them for “entertainment” consumption without ever questioning its merit. It’s like eating a hot dog. Yeah, it’s tasty once in a while but eat that crap everyday and you’ll block the arteries that feed your soul and you’ll become ill from artistic malnutrition. The ‘Gate keepers” that run the film industry are mainly interested in turning a profit and nothing more. They’re not interested in moving society forward or confronting the issues of our time. They’re cowardly when it comes to these subject matters. Thus, the audience has been fed garbage for so long that they no longer see the value in an artistic endeavor that speaks to their hearts and minds. Instead, they just want to be entertained. And that entertainment is what is keeping them in their condition. Ill.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others. Um, I guess it would be my contempt for the industry I am choosing to work in and am choosing to create some change. I fell in love with cinema as a kid for the purity of what cinema is. There were stories told in the 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s that were life affirming and life changing. But, since we turned the page from the 20th Century to the 21st Century the Machine (film industry) has chosen to only churn out content and not much cinema. Of course there’s exceptions such as Terrence Malick’s work, specifically The Tree of Life, Paul Thomas Anderson’s work, specifically The Master, and yes even Mel Gibson’s work, The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto. And a couple of other’s but for the most part it’s been an industry driven by profit and profit only. And it’s such a shame because I understand the need for entertaining content but without cinema the audience member is left empty and a little soulless. I just want to provide a few films that perhaps move my audience the way I was moved by such films as Do the Right Thing, JFK and Raging Bull. You know, cinema.
