Meet Freycus | Band

We had the good fortune of connecting with Freycus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi FREYCUS, what role has risk played in your life or career?
[chuck] Taking risks, to me, means sacrificing for what you believe in. I didn’t know what that meant in the early stages of my career, but through the years I’ve been doing this, I’ve gained and lost a lot. I’ve missed out on gatherings, events and even social life all because of how determined I am to keep going. It’s not easy at all, and at times, you want to give it all up. But your love for it is so strong, and it pushes you to stay on track.
[Peekay] Taking risks means you’re getting closer to your goals. It’s been the basis of my musical career thus far and how I ended up in LA from all the way in Hyderabad, India. I firmly believe that people who follow their instincts and not shy away from doing things that scare them – will be successful. And success can be whatever you want it to look like.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
[donny] I joined Freycus at the beginning of 2022 and at that time, we didn’t have a singer. Our love for music and particularly for the prog metal genre brought us together and we knew that we wanted to pursue that style. We spent 2 years writing an album together while constantly searching for that missing puzzle piece, but ultimately were not able to find someone in LA and finished the album with a few vocalists that worked with us remotely. The final product and our debut album, Sown, taught us so many valuable lessons about collaboration, song writing, and music production and we are very proud of what we achieved. I hoped that once we had a published catalog of music for people to see, it would attract the right vocalist who felt they could build upon it. And finally after 2 years of searching, Peekay reached out to us from India. She was planning to move to LA to continue her music career and she was very enthusiastic about our music. When we started working together, it felt like a star-aligning moment! We found what we were looking for and more. Her experience and positive attitude has pushed us to create more than we ever thought we could and we’re very excited to present the next chapter of our journey. Keep an eye out for Animus, our debut single with Peekay on January 23rd!
[chuck] I think the love for various kinds of music is the art of Freycus’ sound. Each member varies in music influences, and for us to put all of that in one big melting pot, is really an amazing thing. Freycus has experienced a lot through these years, and I’m most proud of that. It really shaped who we are, and the growth we will continuously embark on. It wasn’t an easy path, and more than half the time, we didn’t know what we were doing (lol). But, we kept going and we’ve been fortunate to have individuals that are able to lead when others feel lost. A lesson I’ve learned along the way through this journey, is to never give up. It’s so easy to say, but man, it is hard! There will be moments where you want to quit, but you have to shake that feeling off for what you believe in. Lastly, I just want the world to experience the beauty of what this band has gone through, and how it allowed for us to push ourselves. Hopefully our story inspires you.
