We had the good fortune of connecting with G.Stokes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi G.Stokes, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
We live in a created reality. Everything we see and do, aside from nature, is the product of another man’s or woman’s thought(s). Knowing that made me realize I, too, have to power to create my own reality. I felt an artistic career path would be the best choice to help me achieve that. At a young age I told myself I’m not going to live my life building someone else’s dream without trying to pursue my own first. When I turn 50 I want to be able look back knowing that all the work I’ve put in paid off or look back without any regrets because I know that I gave it my all. I’m talented enough to achieve great things through music. When I’m working on a project, it makes me feel like there’s nothing else in the world but what I’m doing at that moment. That feeling is amazing and addicting, and it’s what drives me every day! However, I know that talent is really only 10 percent of the battle.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I make mostly r&b/rap music. I do many different variations of music in those genres. The thing that sets me apart from others is I write, produce, and engineer my own music! I also songwrite for others. I’m most excited about what’s next to come for me on this journey.

The most important thing I’ve learned over the past few years is that if you want to be successful, you have to work hard. I’d say the biggest challenge I’ve faced is just not giving up, even when it gets really tough. It’s hard to stay motivated and focused on your goals when you’re working really long hours and not seeing any results, but eventually they’ll come!

I’m most proud of my ability to adapt quickly and learn from mistakes. I’ve gone from not knowing how to operate Tiktok to having my song “I Hate Your Cockblocking Friends” go viral on both Tiktok and Instagram! Many times I’ve made content with no results, so to finally see it pay off is exhilarating. The world of music is constantly changing and evolving, so it’s important for me to stay flexible and open-minded about new ways of doing things.

I would love for people to know that I’m passionate about helping other artists succeed. It’s not just about getting attention or making money—it’s about creating something beautiful that brings joy into someone else’s life too!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best way to show your best friend a good time is to take them to the best of what the area has to offer. Here are some of my favorite things:

-Visit [Venice Beach, Hollywood sign & Walk of Fame, Santa Monica Pier]

-Club/Bar [The Reserve, The District by GS]

-Eat [Roscoe’s, Red Chickz, Fixins Soul Kitchen]

-Activity [Hiking in the mountains, Biking on the beach, Shop on Melrose]

-Visit [Museum of Art, Universal Studios,]
