We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Trudell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gary, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We’ve remained a local, family owned, American/California made company staying true to our roots in providing quality products as well as quality service. It is easy for companies to start sacrificing quality for cost, which is not part of our brand structure. Most of our business is repeat and referral business because of the values we provide in both our product and customer service.
What should our readers know about your business?
My family has been hand crafting mattresses in Southern California for over 35 years. What sets us apart from others is that we use American made steel, as well as natural materials, including cotton, that is grown right here in Southern California. In an industry where over 95 percent of mattresses being made are petrochemical based, we pride ourselves on the fact that we build a healthier, more supportive mattress that is also double sided, where most mattress manufacturers only build ones you cannot flip. They try to tell the consumer that a “no flip” mattress is great, but all they’re doing is cutting costs and selling you a cheaper bed for more money. A double sided mattress can be flipped, therefore it has a longer life expectancy. Also, if you know anyone that has a mattress that is dipping, sleeping hot, or having allergy issues, it’s very likely coming from the chemicals in their mattress. It’s been overlooked that we spend a third of our lives in bed, and we are proud and confident to stand behind our quality hand crafted mattresses to make sure our consumers definitely get what they pay for without any regrets.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place I would take a friend or family member from out of town would be the West Hollywood Design District. We would start the morning off at Cecconi’s for an amazing breakfast, then walk up and down both Beverly Boulevard and Robertson to shop, as well as looking at all of the wonderful design showrooms on those streets. I would then take them to Gracias Madre for lunch on their outdoor patio. We would when enjoy all the shops on Melrose and be sure to have dinner reservations at Craig’s. After dinner we would have drinks at the Abby and then end the night at the award winning La Peer Hotel.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A huge thank you to my family who started this. As one of ten children, there was a lot of sacrifice and hard work involved and our success now is all due to what they started 35 years ago.
