Meet Gavanni: Musical Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gavanni and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gavanni, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I feel like I’ve always had a passion for music. As a consumer, long before I ever thought to make music, I would truly study the songs I listened to; I was familiar with every break, every beat, every melodic progression, I memorized it all. I feel like this helped develop my understanding of what “good music” is and what sounds good to me, and I applied this understanding towards creating my own art form through music. Pursuing my own artistic career became very important to me because for me, making music isn’t just about making music, it’s about creating an experience.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of the things that influenced my sound the most was migrating from Nigeria to the United States when I was 17. Coming at that age helped me blend my native culture, sound, art and experiences with my American cultural and social experiences into a unique sound that shapes the kind of music I make. An important factor in my creative process is consistency and allowing myself to grow even through creative blocks.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite place to eat around here is probably Royal Dish Thai Cuisine. The Lagoon Amusement Park is always a fun time. As for the entertainment venues in the area, I know everybody dreams of performing at the Super Bowl or Madison Square Garden and all these grand, historical venues, but for me, I dream of performing at the Vivint arena. I saw ‘Frozen on Ice’ there once and it dawned on me that if I ever become the caliber of artist that gets to perform there, I would be able to perform anywhere in the world. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my wife Sav for her constant support and encouragement. She has always been fully behind me in my dream of becoming an artist and I would not be here without her. I’d also like to thank everybody on my team for keeping me motivated and grinding. I want to especially shout out my guy Josh for believing in my vision and helping me take steps to get to the next level. Last but not not least I’d like to thank my fans for their support throughout my journey as an artist; I’m so appreciative of all the love and I can’t wait to reach more and more fans with my music in years to come.
