We had the good fortune of connecting with Geena Singh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Geena, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
We’ve all had that one passion burning inside of us since we were children, and I think as long as we follow the path, we should keep going. Some people get lucky in life and their “break” comes sooner than others, some will be striving for years and become an “overnight success” while they have countless years of experience underneath their belt. The secret is, to ENJOY the process. When we enjoy the process we’ll already be winning! If you’re getting to do what you love to do, on a daily basis, no matter how slow the progress is, you’re still headed in the right direction. I have to remind myself this all the time! Even if sometimes I doubt myself, at the end of the day, nothing makes me happier than being infront of the camera! I live in gratitude, because even though I’m not where I want to be, I’m still blessed to be ABLE to pursue it on a daily basis.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart, is my culture. When I say culture, it’s a combination of being Indian and American. I am born and raised in Los Angeles, played basketball, soccer, baseball, ran track, was a cheerleader, learned Kathak (a folk Indian dance) and I was on my collegiate Bhangra team at UCSD. Although I was exposed to many sports and activities as a teenager, there were a few times at my local mall I had been approached by modeling scouts, but my parents being the Indian traditional parents they were, never wanted me to pursue modeling or acting at such a young age. So, fast forward 10+ years, thankfully I was able to pursue the modeling industry! While I was very much into sports growing up, I was simultaneously also obsessed with style. Style, not fashion. Why I say style, is because I feel style is an extension of who we are innately without having to explain myself.

So while I am currently modeling, content creation is also a big part of my identity because I want to exude confidence and strength through clothing and lifestyle choices. My social media presence serves as a creative outlet, but also an ode to my teenage years because we never had social media back then! With that being said, I am still a fitness aficionado which has helped my mindset and my mental health tremendously. Fitness has been a big part of my life for the past few years, and I hope to instill the importance of it in the Indian community as well!

All these experiences have resulted in me having an athletic mindset as an adult, which has taught me resilience. I am thankful I was able to create a little world for myself through social media, which allows me to still be me and allows me to creatively express myself. Whether it’s Indian fashion or western, I’m grateful my supporters enjoy my content as much as I enjoy making it! What I’m most excited about in the near future, is acting. My agents have been encouraging me for years, so im excited to take this leap of faith into an industry I honestly do not know much about! I look forward to acting since it’ll challenge me in a way that I haven’t been before, and the way I look at it, it’s another outlet to express oneself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday- Starting off by getting breakfast burritos at Wake and Late, then we’d get coffee at Tilt Coffee in Downtown LA. After that we’d have lunch at Grand Central Market and stop by Bottega Louie because it’s so grandiose and their macarons are delicious. After that we’d visit the Santa Monica Pier!

Tuesday- We’d visit Huntington Gardens or Descanso Gardens, both would be beautiful this time of year. After that we’d visit either the Americana or The Grove, they’re both equally beautiful to visit and to shop at. In the evening, we’d eat at Night and Market Song.

Wednesday- Hike at the Hollywood reservoir OR Runyon Canyon. After that we’d go to LACMA lights and get banana bread pudding from Magnolia Bakery. Followed by Jon and Vinny’s for dinner.

Thursday- Dupars for pancakes and then Universal Studios! Followed by dinner at Sugarfish or Kazunori!

Friday- Visit Getty Museum or Getty Villa! Followed by dinner at either Bavel, Bestia, or Saffys OR Nobu Malibu. They’re all equally delicious!

Saturday- I would add a Barrys workout or a pilates workout class because you cannot come to LA and not workout (haha) followed by a visit to Erewhon and of course we have to get the famous smoothies. Hopefully we can sneak in a trip to Griffith Observatory. After that, we’d visit Rodeo drive because why not! Followed by paninis from Il Trammezino.

Sunday- On our last day, we would definitely get breakfast burritos again but from a local spot, and then In n out burger, specifically the one near LAX.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I thank my husband who supports any big decision I decide to take, and who sees all the work that goes on behind the scenes yet still encourages to follow my dreams. I can always trust my husband to steer me in the right direction, he really is my biggest supporter and I look up to him a lot for guidance and clarity. Also, the agencies who represent me and believe in me, my work ethic, and potential. Lastly, my family and my friends who are like family. These people bring a lot of necessary perspective which I wouldn’t necessarily get otherwise. My friends understand I won’t always see them, but I will always be there when it counts. I might not be the person who keeps in touch with them every single day, but they know my personality stays consistent through and through.
