We had the good fortune of connecting with Genice Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Genice, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Being a business owner in the beauty industry has taught me a few key lessons: 1) Professionals are EVERYWHERE. How are you going to stand out while remaining true to yourself? I learned this is done by honing in on what i am passionate about in esthetics. I continue to try and master them, continue to learn something new, stay on trend and bring the best quality results to my client.

2)Because of the saturated market, I have learned quality will trump quantity and low prices. Very few of my clients are locals. My clients travel from all over the area because what I offer gives results and I have become really crafted in building client relationships.

3)No cutting corners. Little details do matter, like a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, including little things every once in a while when you have time.

4)Not all money is good money. I feel this is self explanatory for many reasons.

5)Dont chase money, chase happiness. This is the BIGGEST habit. I brought resort quality to my home town AND made it affordable.

Consistency is the key to any business hands down. I feel my formula for running my business has brought me success I never thought it would. I am active on social media, available to my clients, and I dont miss work. When you bring wuality and clients can rely on you, you will always be successful.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my business apart from others is our memberships and our retail vendors. We give quality, result driven services at an affordable price and members receive discounts and perks being a part of the Glow Getter Family. We also focus on body treatments like vajacials and body wraps, something that is not very common in our are but clients love.
We also support our local community by renting space to small businesses to sell their items here at the studio and we promote them on our site and social media platforms as well.
I feel like I got where I am business wise by being consistent. I have put in an insane amount of hours into learning, researching, and pushing myself to grow my business. When I have been stressed and overwhelmed I pushed even harder because I knew taking a relaxing approach was going to make my success take longer. I have children to raise and I did not have time to work at my own pace and take it easy.
Because of how persistent I was to grow my business, I have learned to prioritze my life. I know being able to be active in everything my kids do means that when I am at work I need to put in 1000% effort. When they sleep, I finish what wasn’t finished at the studio that day. Some days feel exhausting, but the more I have given to my business the more it has given back to me: freedom and being able to be involved with my kids.
I want the world to know that my business model is not focused on the dollar. It is focused on making sure what I provide is DESERVING of the dollar. I have worked hard to make sure that when you are here, we are focused on you and your experience. It is all about you when you show up for your service, and we accept every person that comes to see us. There will never be any judgement and we cater to every BODY.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If i had a friend visiting my home town, I would definitely first want to go to Uptown Whittier and visit the small business shops there as it was a favorite past time as a kid for me. Rocky Colas is definitely a staple restauraunt for me because I love the old fashion diner vibe. I would also want to go to the alleys in Downtown LA for another day of shopping and to eat the bacon wrapped hot dogs. You cant go wrong there.
Tuesdays at Pioneer High School in Whittier there are food trucks in the parking lot as well and there are always new things to try there. Venice Beach is another spot to make sure to include for the small vendors and good food, plus everyone comes to California for the beaches. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are 2 people that deserve some credit in my success, my children.

I went from going into a nursing career to this because i was not happy and wanted a career that I didnt have to sacrifice holidays and special moments.

I work hard, and now that my business is running smoothly, I only work a few days a week and am able to provide for them and never have to miss a doctor appointment, birthday, holiday, etc.

They make me want happiness in my life, and I have them to thank for lighting that fire in me.
