We had the good fortune of connecting with Georgette Angelos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Georgette, what role has risk played in your life or career?
In the words of Wayne Gretzky, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” From the moment I packed my bags to move to Los Angeles. Taking a job as the House Photographer of a big record label before I owned my own camera. That job led me to film. My first Associate Producing job got me hired as the Head of Production of Snoop Dogg’s Media Label, Merry Jane, at the age of 24. I resigned to Produce the now 5-Part Docuseries on George Jung’s life, who the movie BLOW is based on. I guess the point I’m trying to make here is, the worst that could’ve happened is I had to go back home.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My accomplishment I’m most proud of outside of becoming a Mother, is the Boston George: Famous without the Fortune Docuseries that my production company, G2C Productions, Produced. The Boston George Docuseries is the Life Story of George Jung, who the movie BLOW is based on, with George being portrayed by Johnny Depp. There were challenges from the very beginning. George being sent back to prison for a 6 month time period before we began filming. Once released, the ins and outs of working alongside a man who had been imprisoned for 22 years prior. The list goes on. BUT, I also worked alongside an insanely talented crew who, no matter what challenges, we made the best of them, overcame them, and turned them into a positive. The lessons learned from the challenges were what I hope we can all take from 2020. With hard work, companionship, honesty, trust, respect, and love for one another, you can truly overcome anything.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my sister, Nicola. She, too, is an Entrepreneur, go-getter, CEO, BOSS. Owner of SHAGBAGG, and ongoing inspiration to those who come in contact with her and her creative spirit. As a single mother to my incredible daughter, Penelope, who I also dedicate this to, juggling my personal life and business can get hard to say the least, but my sister is always there to help give me a step up in the right direction.
