We had the good fortune of connecting with Geri Anne Wilcox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Geri Anne, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me is in a partnership with a balance of hard work and relationships with one’s self and others. I feel most reward and pride when I can work and have time with my family equally and show up with 💯 to offer. I attempt to achieve that by self care to be able to share and create with others. I feel successful when I can provide for my family and have passion for a fulfilling career and lifestyle. I also find great accomplishment when I set creative goals and collaborations to keep inspiring new ideas and relationships with others.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In my art form the canvas happens to be hair and lifestyle. Living in Las Vegas I get great opportunity to express creativity. Between shows, pinups, burlesque, concerts, weddings, dinners the events vacations and planning keeps an abundance of fun and artistic gigs available. I personally have had a blast planning creative collaborations with peers and colleagues and clients. These productions have led to many successful and rewarding photo shoots, experiences and memories in the lives of our selves and clients. With this reward comes a lot of planning and dreaming and figuring things out. There has been plenty of falls, lost sleep, and lessons learned. With much more to be learned I always say the day I know it all I quit. I love to work with and learn from fellow artists there are so many ways to get where we are going so many paths taken each one so beautiful and brilliant and unique. I try to put out an energy raw and from my heart leading with gratitude and acceptance and understanding. I have been a hairstylist for 17 years I have been in Las Vegas for the last 12 years. I opened my first salon in Las Vegas NV a little over a year ago. I also work for two freelance agencies which has been great to work with people visiting Las Vegas. My heart is full in how well my life is working right now. I am very open and passionate for what more is to come.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love music, art, food, dive bars, and nature. Las Vegas is endless for entertainment my saying is, if your bored in Las Vegas get a hobby! because there is something for everyone. For me I would say come book an appointment at Off Mane St. with me to look and feel your best! Then grab a bite to eat from pawn plaza since that’s where my salon is located. You can also take a short stroll down the street to the downtown arts district. On the way you can stop off and get Married a Bliss wedding chapel, checkout blue sky for some blissful yoga with Cheryl, swing by an awesome vintage shop like Glam Factory. Also check out antique Mall of America! (Outside of arts District but cool find for sure!) By now you are probably thirsty or hungry stop for a beer at Rebar Or The Silver Stamp ….. have a nice dinner at Esters kitchen, or grab a vegan taco from Tacotarian if you leave there craving cheese or not no worries head on over to Fremont and stop by evil pie for a drink and a slice of pizza. After that if you are into dive bars you can head to Dino’s for some Karaoke…. then Dive bar or Double Down for some live music! If you like tiki bars be sure to check out Frankies tiki Room, Red Dwarf and Golden Tiki. Gabi coffee and bakery is a rad shop in Chinatown. Area 15 is a fantastic artistic trip check it out! For a little trip off the strip be sure to check out Red Rock national park and Cactus Joe’s or Mt. Charleston or Lake Mead and Boulder City. Also we have great cirque du Soleil shows like The Beatles Love, skate parks, splash pads movie theaters, bowling alleys, pool parties, massage and spas a city has to offer.
