We had the good fortune of connecting with Gillian Driscoll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gillian, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Whether it’s a song that lifts your spirits or a story that inspires you, I seek out projects that leave a positive imprint.

Supporting the creative and artistic community is a large passion of mine. I’ve worked with so many talented musicians and creators in helping them be heard on a larger scale through digital marketing, social media, and in-person opportunities.

I’ve also launched digital campaigns around documentaries sharing inspiring stories and figures including “RUTH: Justice Ginsburg In Her Own Words,” and “9th Circuit Cowboy” on the impactful Judge Harry Pregerson.

Additionally, I’ve aided clients on aligning with non-profits to raise awareness and funds for causes that are meaningful to them.

With so much going on in the world, it’s important to me to take on projects that resonate in a meaningful way and to actively seek ways to give back. I’ve always enjoyed music and the arts from a young age, and love every opportunity to support powerful, unique projects from behind the (digital marketing) scenes.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Gillian Jean Creative brings stories to life through digital marketing including social media, brand partnerships, and tailored events.

Thanks to my parents’ love for art and music, I grew up with a lot of exposure to these creative forms. As a result, I’m a very visual person. This plays a big role in how I brainstorm ideas and approach clients from a marketing, social media and branding perspective.

For me it’s all about cohesion and creating something that grabs people’s attention in a meaningful and memorable way. The visual narrative only continues to play a huge role in supporting the story, vision and values a brand or artist is looking to communicate in an impactful way online.

Coming up with those ideas and executing them is what I find most rewarding, as it’s where I get to apply my creative thinking to help a client reach their goals.

One project I’m especially proud of is the campaign I created for the documentary “RUTH: Justice Ginsburg In Her Own Words” by Academy Award-Winning filmmaker, Freida Lee Mock. We sent custom PR packages with RUTH cookies, made by Sweet Custom Treats, to a number of high-profile Instagram users and secured great original posts and significant exposure for the film as a result. Additionally, we partnered with the D.C. based and veteran owned Compass Coffee to create a limited edition RUTH coffee tin to raise awareness about the film’s release. The coffee sold out online and in their physical locations. We saw a huge amount of organic postings on Instagram about the coffee and the film as a result. When all the pieces of a campaign come together as envisioned, there’s no greater feeling.

While challenges arise at times, I’ve learned how to more deftly navigate those challenges year after year. Being adaptable and thinking on your feet when the unexpected occurs can ultimately create some amazing outcomes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is no shortage of things to do in this city! As a music lover, I go to concerts weekly. The Sun Rose is one of my favorite new places to check out live music. The Troubadour always feels magical given the rich history of iconic artists who have graced its stage. I also love any opportunity to see a show under the stars at The Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theatre. There is nothing else like it.

Of course, being in Los Angeles means the beach is a must. I find the ocean so soothing. Spending time by the water helps me reset and relieve stress. Having grown up in New York City and hardly spending any time by water, I try to take advantage as much as I can.

As an art lover, I enjoy visiting all the incredible museums in town including LACMA, Getty, Getty Villa, The Broad, The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens and so much more.

When it comes to dining out, there are so many places I can’t get enough of. I love soaking up Los Angeles’ gorgeous weather as much as possible, so I gravitate towards rooftops and patios. Mama Shelter is a reliable favorite, as is Elephante in Santa Monica for the ocean views. I’m a sucker for a good diner, and Beachwood Cafe is one of my all-time favorites. For a decadent carb moment, Jones on Santa Monica never lets me down. Neither does Superba Food + Bread. Bread is in the name, so you know it’s next level.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people to acknowledge! First and foremost, I wouldn’t be here without the love, support and guidance from my parents who taught me so many important life lessons, including operating from integrity, being true to your word, and holding fast to your values.

I’m also grateful to have the most amazing friends who always encourage and champion me. They are there when I need advice or just need to release some stress and have a good laugh. I have an incredible L.A. community of fearless friends and fellow entrepreneurs including Lauryn Hreben of DZL Consulting. Not only am I blessed to call her my friend, but we’ve had the opportunity to work on some projects together. Getting to work with friends I admire is one of the better perks of being an entrepreneur!

Additionally, my friend Courtney Nichols continues to do incredible work in the L.A. community in the nightlife, culinary and NFT space through Disco Dining Club and Of The Night. If you are looking for a truly unforgettable experience, look no further.

I also have to shout out the multi-faceted Bradley Weiss. By day he is a talented UX/UI designer, and by night he (along with a small team) is throwing the hottest new “house-centric” dance party in town, called Nightshade.

There are more I could shout out, but I will leave it there! That’s one of the things I love most about Los Angeles – the cornucopia of individuals who are creating, experimenting, and fully expressing themselves and their visions.
