We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean-Michel Thomas – Dobaria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jean-Michel, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve ever had to make was to leave my all family behind and come to America by myself to follow my dreams, purpose in life. You have to believe on yourself, your art, your worth to make that JUMP !!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My vision and heart that’s what make me different, TMC it’s not a sprint but a marathon. LA is different and still making my way up there. It wasn’t easy , a lot of challenges came up and specially last year but to overcome those challenges you have to believe at yourself, know your worth and believe the process!! Ubuntu is how I grow up and I believe in this, we can overcome anything by uplifting each other and grow together
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First welcome in ktown (Koreatown ) lol, this area show love to me and my dog Lotus when I got here. Then of course the beach Santa Monica, city kids don’t see the beach that much lol. Time to eat , let’s go to LoveHour in Koreatown, best burger in town !! The Line hotel have the best event and pool parties. Inglewood and Compton area , amazing people there, hilltop coffee, sip and sonder. Great places to support and help the community
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I won’t be where I am at right now by myself …. sometimes it’s just hard to see the bigger picture and I was thankful to have few people and crew who got me back up to become the best version of myself (still in process!) First my running community and my MMA community, thankful for KRC(Koreatown running club) and my full LA running community are real life saver!!
