We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Conyers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gina, how do you think about risk?
By trade, I am a LCSW and made a career out of playing it safe and worked for the government to ensure my security and safety, financially. Then in 2017, I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and safety flew out the window. I decided to cash out my retirement and start ginaslove.com full-time and I took a huge risk doing that, while sick. It was the best risk I ever had taken because it was a calculated risk where I knew that I would regret never trying it a lot worse than failing if I tried.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Ginaslove.com and I make vegan soaps and natural body products. I started my business full time in 2017 after I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. A gave me time to spin with my children every single day and time to do something that I really loved which is helping people to take care of themselves. It has not always been easy running my own business in battling health issues but it has been worth it. I believe in never giving up in life in business and with my health. I want the world to know that They can Chase their dreams and make their dreams come true and live a life that day create based on their needs.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favourite spots in Richmond, Virginia (RVA) is Carytown. It’s kind of a retro hippie vibe with small coffee shops and local eateries. My favourite place to eat in Carytown is The Daily Kitchen (locals just call it The Daily) or Sen Small Plate. Richmond is a really artsy town so going to museum district is a must! The Virginia museum of fine arts has some of the best artwork on the East Coast in it. What are my favourite things to do in RVA is to go to Pocahontas State Park. In the fall when the leaves are changing colours it is miraculous there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out my business mentor, Pete Williamson. He is a volunteer with the SCORE program and he has believed in me when noone else did.
