We had the good fortune of connecting with Gina Pulice and Jen Bosworth-Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gina Pulice and Jen Bosworth-Ramirez, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Gina and I both have backgrounds in the mental health field. Before we launched Undeniable, Ink, we were therapists. And before that, we were both in theatre. We met our freshman year in college. I think all of our experiences sort of primed us to never give up. From childhood until now we have been scrappy, resilient and pretty relentless in our search for meaning, and purpose. While I would say we both have had periods of wanting to give up, instead I feel like we take breaks, pivot if necessary and then keep moving. We are both committed to telling stories in meaningful ways, and find ways to celebrate humanity through our writing, even the parts of humanity that may not be the easiest to understand or even like. And I feel like one of the unofficial mottos of Undeniable, Ink is “When in doubt watch a compelling documentary, have a delicious snack and find ways to laugh your butt off.” With our podcast, I SURVIVED THEATRE SCHOOL, we aim to showcase the lives and work of fellow creatives who are finding their way in this challenging, beautiful and wild world. Also, Gina and I just love talking to each other so it’s a way to take some time and connect with each other. Life is so busy, it’s nice to sit in our little sound studios (closets) and be interrupted in conversation for a bit. It’s been very healing for us, and the guests on the podcast report feeling the same way after their interviews.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Gina and I met in 1993, in drama school at DePaul University. For both of us, as we talk about a lot on our podcast, I SURVIVED THEATRE SCHOOL, I think we sort of blocked out that time in our lives. We both felt less than, not good enough and disconnected from ourselves and others. After graduating we both eventually ended up becoming therapists in the mental health field. In 2018 we were both looking for ways to bring more creativity and art back into our lives. We also began talking more about our college years at DePaul and started to try and figure out what exactly that time in our lives was about, why it was so painful and what, if anything, we could learn from those years in undergrad. We were also curious to know what the acting conservatory experience was like for other folks. We began to interview fellow Theatre School classmates, and then we branched out to people who had gone to other theater schools around the country and the world. At the same time we began to develop and write television together, and decided to form our media company, Undeniable, Ink. We have since written numerous pilots, have interviewed dozens of artists, and continue to find ways of collaborating under the Undeniable, Ink umbrella.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When Gina next comes to LA, this is where we will go:
Griffith Park for a morning hike
Then The Alcove for breakfast
Then The Getty Museum
Then my favorite beach to watch the sunset- Zuma
And finally, dinner at The Smokehouse in Burbank-it’s old school and reminds me of our time in the midwest during college-it’s like L:A’s version of a midwestern supper club. Yes!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hmmm…. I would say we would dedicate our shoutout to all the folks who keep trying, despite maybe never receiving the financial recognition they deserve or need. To the people who, like us believe in real change and growth and are committed to doing what it takes to make their lives and those around them better. It’s hard work, often uncelebrated and we are here to say…KEEP GOING.
