We had the good fortune of connecting with Gino Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gino, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artist career because it’s the one thing that makes me feel .like love, like being one with nature, like feeling something greater than yourself.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a mixture of all my experiences through color or there lack off. It’s expressive and honest. I feel like in the end all of us are artists and want to set apart but we are just expressing love only way we know how. I try to include these thoughts and tie connectivity between creatives. That might set me apart I want to show that if I can do something great you can as well. I’ve got to be where I’m at today just by putting myself amongst like minded people and sharing ideas it’s the only real currency. It wasn’t easy I had to learn all these philosophies myself when I grew up I wasn’t taught these things. We were very poor and just getting by with what we had and it taught me how to be self reliant in certain ways. I was lucky to be around parents that’s had lots of creativity. Art gave me a self respect I never had it gave me a self-worth. I would want the world to know that everyday is new chance to do something great whatever that means to you.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them to an art show or fashion show maybe to a museum . We would go eat at an authentic Mexican spot go to a couple thrift stores . The fashion distric buy some textiles . Hang out with other like minded friends have a drink, ride some motorcycles
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother the strongest and most inspiring woman I know.
