Meet Glenda Benevides | Founder Global Badass Goddess & Glenda Benevides Music

We had the good fortune of connecting with Glenda Benevides and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Glenda, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
That you when you are clear about who you are, stay focused on “you” being the best you can be, love what you do from your core being, share it and keep going. You may have to shift directions as you evolve. This is normal, but don’t give up on you or your chosen path. Alignment, patience and being present to your journey is key, as this is filled with rich insights, breakthroughs and it will truly make an impact for others. Your fulfillment opens the door to freedom!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been considered for a grammy so coming from a family with no talent or musical gifts living in Oregon was always a challenge I have no idea about. I then realized you can make your stars a reality if you have clarity and passion. It’s then you can activate courage, confidence, commitment and with the help of community all is possible.
I found that transformation and success usually go hand in hand for a truly balanced, exciting and joyful life.
I’ve been a professional singer, songwriter an entertainer since I was 16 and had the fortune to tour all around the world, while singing with amazingly talented artists. I have now stepped into what I consider my deeper purpose and more consciously intentional musician of the heart. For me this is service. To write music, and a story that touches someones soul, to have them say, Hey, that’s my story! This awakens the heart in a more profound way.
I consider all music spiritual in some way. I dive in to the musical colors of the earth, sky and water the elements of life the ones that feed our soul. It’s the soul of blues, the cry of longing, something that speaks to the road you’re on. That’s powerfully transformative.
Embracing more of my purpose and understanding what I had to offer, lead me to write a book called “Courage, Find Your Fire and Ignite Action In Your Life” along with two courses called “Own The Goddess Within”, “Own The Room” and my Music EP Goddess. My driving intention for all this work, was to share with people who truly wanted to embrace their full self-expression and freedom. To share my insights on how they can create and express their own passionate self and shine a light on their own uniqueness.
I believe that life’s experiences can be challenging for some, more for others. Mindset is a key player when it comes to how one looks at a situation, or how one doesn’t look. Your mindset can keep the challenge in place and repeating, until you choose to shift it. Yes, choice! because you are the designer of your life in all ways! You say how it goes.
How I resolve most of my issues/challenges is I do a few things. I get present to what I want to have happen verses what IS happening, then move toward how I can shift my perception. You have to litterly change your mind! Sometimes easier said than done. I also look at the challenge and see how or why I called that in? This provides some spectacular insights and a new way forward. I then go back to my want/don’t want list and see what is there to start focusing on. There is a deeper process but not for this conversation..
For me, starting with creating a clear intention is key. This will evolve over time but intentions sustains life, which leads you into a life with more ease and less filled with trials and trauma to keep resolving. If you don’t have a a clear intention the universe will provide one with or with out your permission.
Growing up was not horrible but it had its challenges that I worked through. I grew up in a working class family that was not in my profession. So, they had no idea about the music industry nor how to help me. Talk about walking around in the dark and forging your own path. It can be extremely challenging to not be in the heart of your industry, with no one telling you the insider game or show you the ropes. Yes, this is like being blind but you have to drive. Because there are so many things you don’t know, that you don’t know, that you don’t know. Hard!
My thought is there’s an upside and a downside to everything and every situation, which will require you to look or dig a little deeper for your gifts in life and the answers to get over the hump are there..Especially when you can only see what you “don’t want” or “don’t have” spinning more energy into frustration and confusion which gives you more of that. Time to shift but keep going. You will see you in the question and the answer, you have to listen.
Learning to step back, get clear, adjust, speak my truth, forgive and never give up, that was my path forward towards what I DO want and shifting my reality.
I’ve always been the one who is looking toward the goal and now I’m enjoying the creation as I walk my path. Lot’s of information and inspiration in that way of being.
Unique verse Seperation. I think that we are all unique in our own way and what separates us is our colorful attitudes and beliefs, although this can hinder or help depending on what you choose to see. Unique is you and Separation is what I choose to do with it.
For me, giving people the space to be accepted and to be themselves fully, is huge in a world that is now working toward too many restrictions and less over all freedom. I presence acceptance and love when I am singing, talking to my audience and writing my music or my courses. We can all use a little more love, acceptance and to celebrate our uniqueness.
What I am holding the space for in all that I do, is to move out of survival, pain, judgement and misunderstanding. always aspiring to uplift in some way, to go deeper than we have before, to share our kindness, to evolve, love and understand ourselves deeply and to contribute who we truly are!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I guess we are talking about San Francisco? …I was thinking Edinburgh Scotland! heheheh
Anyway, Let’s start for a early morning coffee and Bagel at Simple Pleasures in the Richmond district! Yum! and it’s still affordable! We’ll take a short walk down to the ocean while dinking our coffee and watch the waves for a min. Then we can head over to North Beach for lunch at the classic Golden Boy Pizza, grab a quick slice and then walk down to Pier 39 to work off that Pizza delight! Once we’re grab a quick Ghirardelli chocolate for our addiction.. Then hop the ferry over to Alcatraz. Next is the walk across the Golden Gate bridge for pictures and to watch the fog roll in. At this point we will be3 tired so well, grab an Uber over to have another classic meal at Presidio Social Club an old world war 11 building, ex-military barracks, for some good food and history. Then off to China Town the next day!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been several people throughout my life who have touched me, inspired me, supported me and encouraged me to live life in a bigger way. To on purpose design my life and say how it will go. To be present, accountable for who I am in the world and to see how I have an impact either intentional or unintentional. To go deeper than I can imagine, to go beyond my fears and illusery stops in life.
Sunil Bhaskaran mentor/author with Roadmapping your journey to success, Gene Williams my music co-writing partner Mindspawn Mastering, Warner Erhard creator of transformational models, and Carl Jung. So much more, and not enough space to acknowledge humans and book who have paved a powerful road before me!
