Meet Grace Scaglione | Founder & Owner of Keep It Movin’ Pilates

We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Scaglione and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Grace, how does your business help the community?
Keep It Movin’ Pilates supports individuals who are often underserved or overlooked by traditional fitness outlets. As a small Pilates studio, and by working with clients individually, each person develops strength, flexibility and personal awareness that carries into daily life.
Joseph Pilates famously said, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness”. By doing this work on a micro level, people show up stronger for themselves, their families, their communities, and eventually the world.
Pilates boosts longevity, and I honestly believe the whole world should practicing it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Keep It Movin’ Pilates apart is that it’s not a high-volume studio or a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s a highly personal, hands-on Pilates experience where clients are seen, heard, and coached with care.
Pilates changed everything. I fell in love with the method, got certified, and spent over a decade teaching in established studios while learning the business from the inside. Eventually, I realized I wanted more autonomy, deeper client relationships, and a space that reflected my growth.
Before Pilates, I worked for years building stages and live events. It was very physical, demanding work that taught me how important it was to protect your back and move efficiently. After becoming a mother of 3, I needed a smarter, more sustainable way to earn a living.
Starting a business, especially as a single mother and independent instructor was one of the hardest things I’ve done. There were financial stressors, injuries, burnout, and moments of self-doubt. Building something sustainable while staying present for my family is a constant balancing act.
What helps me push through is consistency, adaptability, and trusting my experience. I lean into my strengths instead of trying to compete with big studios. I keep showing up, because I know my work changes people’s lives.
Lessons I’ve Learned Along the Way are… Quality always beats quantity. Results come not from rushing, but rather patience and precision. Consistency matters more than intensity and you don’t need to be loud to be impactful.
What I want people to understand about Keep It Movin’ Pilates is that the work is never about a trend, but rather a system for lifelong health. We help people move better, breathe deeper, and live with strength, balance, and intention. In a world that is more sedentary, stressed, and disconnected from the body, Pilates isn’t just exercise; it’s a blueprint for lifelong well-being, our modern world desperately needs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many vantage points SoCal has overlooking our vast landscape. Keep it Movin’ Pilates is in the progress of building a free hiking community in order to give members an exclusive opportunity to move in community and get outside and break from the fast city life.
Favorite places to visit around town are Channel Island, the Getty Center, Griffith Park, Angeles National Forest, and local hikes such as the Wisdom Tree, Fryman Canyon or the Hollywood Sign.
Favorite places to eat are the Trails Cafe in Griffith Park and Cafe on 27 in Topanga Canyon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
After my first born daughter in 2009, I tried Pilates on the Mat for the first time. It was so humbling and my body felt extremely weak. When I gave birth to twins in 2011, I tried Pilates reformer. It’’s been a love story ever since!
I signed up to become an instructor with Pilates Sports Center in 2014, then applied for internship with Pilates Studio City in 2015. I learned so much from my Master Instructor, Lora Pavilack. She showed me more than just the method of Pilates movement, but also what it’s like to build a woman owned fitness business, through community, passion. and family values.
