We had the good fortune of connecting with Haley McDonald and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haley, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Ever since I could hold a pencil, I was drawing. Art has been my biggest and longest passion ever since I could remember. I work best when I have free range, so a creative career was the only path that made sense for me.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve always wanted to have a career that allowed for creative freedom and was making some kind of positive impact on the world. Last year, I came up with the idea of selling art inspired makeup, and partnering with art non-profits through out the United States. For Arts Sake Cosmetics was launched August 1st, 2020 and has been growing ever since. One of my most popular products is an eye shadow palette inspired by “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh. Currently, I am partnered with The Art Therapy Project. They are a mental health organization providing free group art therapy to adults and youth affected by trauma. A portion of every purchase is donated back to them currently. I’ve dedicated a lot of time and effort into For Arts Sake Cosmetics, but every moment has been enjoyable. I truly love what I do and feel fulfilled knowing that I am contributing to the art community. The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is to be resilient. If it was easy to start a successful business then everyone would do it. You can’t let yourself lose steam and give up. There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing your vision come to life!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of the most fun and interesting places and things to check out in the city would be the art galleries and the concert halls. I’m a huge fan of live music. Spending the day on Sunset Boulevard and catching a show is the perfect way to spend a day in my opinion.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to my husband and family. They have always been by my side in whatever new project I wanted to explore. I’ve never felt anything but love and support from them and it encourages me to keep working and creating.
