We had the good fortune of connecting with Kai Depusoir and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kai, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always enjoyed art and trying new things. I told myself 2020 will be my year for growth and stepping out of my comfort zone. What began as a hobby turned into a passion and now a business that I am very proud of. I have always been into art growing up. I was very introverted and kept to myself. When I turned to art, whether it was painting or performing arts, that is where I felt more like myself. For years I have been told I should share my art and start my own business, but I always downplayed my art as a way of protecting my emotions. This is something I love and poured my heart into and I feared others wouldn’t feel the same way I do about my art. The ending of 2019 and beginning of 2020 was a rough time for me and I realize I needed to make some changes in my life. I couldn’t live in fear anymore and it was time to take that leap of faith. I officially launched my business on my birthday in August 2020, and it was the best decision I made.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an abstract artist. I create work with multiple mixed mediums, my main medium being acrylic. I use resin, alcohol ink, and acrylic mostly. My vision for Niftiq Art is to create unique pieces that give my audience a special feeling. A feeling someone wants to keep for themselves and have at home forever. The goal of my artwork is to create positive vibes that entice positive emotions. My style has been described as “calming, yet powerful.” I am inspired by nature; the colors and textures found by the ocean; the greens from my garden and the different crystals within a geode.
What makes me stand out is all my business are unique. There will be no one else else with your piece of artwork .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot is downtown Long Beach by the Marina. I enjoy having a small intimate picnic with people I care about & my dog. I would take them on different hiking locations I have been to with my pup.
If we are not able to go out, I enjoy staying inside as well! Binge watch our favorite shows with food we both love.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank you friends and family for supporting me and my business.
