We had the good fortune of connecting with Hamza Ben Addou Idrissi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hamza, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Hey, I’m Hamza, and my journey has taken me from growing up in Morocco to living in France, Spain, and now the U.S. It’s been an incredible adventure, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Growing up in Morocco was truly amazing, as it’s a country with a unique culture and strong values. My parents encouraged me to learn piano and music theory, which marked the beginning of my musical journey. Then, I moved to France, where I not only met my closest friends but also dived into the world of electronic music. College life in France was where I started producing music, igniting my passion for artistry.
Spain offered a completely different experience, one that I cherished every moment of. And now, here in the U.S., it’s like a whole world of opportunities has opened up for me. Los Angeles, in particular, is a cultural melting pot, full of opportunities for producers like me and artists to grow and collaborate on exciting projects.
Living in all these places has taught me to be super adaptable and handle all kinds of situations. So, I’m all set to bring my unique experiences and flexibility to whatever comes my way!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my musical journey with my artist project, Dawn & Prax, where we aimed to blend pop and electronic music influences. Witnessing people connect with our music has been an incredibly rewarding aspect of this endeavor. As time went on, I expanded my horizons to produce for other artists. I discovered a genuine passion for helping others in expressing themselves through their music. It’s not only fulfilling but also a lot of fun, as each artist presents a unique challenge. Adapting my production style and workflow to match their artistic vision keeps things exciting and dynamic.
I’m genuinely thankful that both my artist project and my work as a producer have flourished, but to be honest the journey was never an easy one. Rejection was a constant companion, every step of the way. However, the adversity made me into a resilient individual with a rock-solid mindset. I firmly believe that if you set your goals and have the discipline to relentlessly pursue them, nothing can stop you.
I want people to know that I’m not just focused on being a good winner; I’m equally committed to being a good loser, prepared to endure setbacks and keep pushing forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Since my move to LA, I’ve been pretty busy with work, but I do have a couple of suggestions for you. Firstly, if you’re into jaw-dropping views, you absolutely have to go hiking. LA is full of fantastic hiking spots. Whether you’re an experienced hiker up for a challenge or simply looking for chill hike with some stunning views, you’ll find something for you here.
Additionally, if you’re into live music, LA is a fantastic place to be. One of my top picks is the Hollywood Bowl. It’s an iconic venue that offers a unique concert experience you won’t easily find elsewhere. The atmosphere, the history, and the performances there are truly something else. So, if you get the chance, don’t miss out!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I think about the people who’ve made a huge impact on my journey as an artist, a few stand out. First and foremost, a big shoutout goes to my parents. They’ve been my rock, always being supportive. Having that family support has given me the confidence to keep going. I’ve got to give props to my friend Karim, my bandmate from Dawn & Prax. He’s the one who got me into music production in the first place. His friendship and guidance have been so important for me.
And last but definitely not least, I want to thank all the amazing artists who’ve trusted me with their songs. Friends like Connor MacKay, DeadRose, Madi Mayo, and more. It’s a big deal when someone trust you with their art, and I’m thankful for those opportunities. They push me to be the best artist and producer I can be.
