Meet Heather Yesenia: Actress, Photography, Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Yesenia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always loved everything related to art, I loved to draw because I loved to combine bright colors, like the ones I used to see in my backyard. Growing up I always had a crazy imagination; I grew up very shelter from the world for a little bit but even as a young kid I would explore the ideas in my head and growing up surrounded by nature and trees help improve that imagination. I always liked performing, creating and making people see things from a different point of view; as an actress I can tell stories that can help others relate to a certain situation and tell stories that will be someone’s escape for an hour or two. As a photographer I love capturing moments and build memories that show certain emotions, shooting film photographing has helped me slow down and really take in a moment before pushing my shutter button.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
To be an artist you have to be truly passionate about what you do and where you’re going because this is a rollercoaster of a ride. You’re going to receive a lot of “NOs'” along the way, and not EVERYONE will understand your art but it’s ok because this is your journey and yours alone. I think surrounding myself with people who fight for their dreams has helped me fight for mine; you become so inspired when you’re surrounded by art, positivity and uplifting souls. It’s important to understand that you may fail, but understand that failures become into lessons that can help you grow. I want people to do what they love, to understand that dreams COULD COME TRUE, no matter where you come from. No dream is too big or too small, and if you’re willing to pursue them then they WILL become your reality. This is why I’ve made is as far as I have, this is why I still create whenever I can because it’s my dream to tell stories, to capture moments and show others that anything is possible.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love taking drives, and when I have friends and family over I love to show them all Los Angeles has to offer. I love going to the beach I think that would always be the first place to go enjoy the ocean, the views and the food. We can plan a day to either Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach where we can go to the canals, Malibu or even Laguna Beach because of the views we will be able to capture and all the good food we would be able to eat. Many of my friends are street photographers, so I know they would love to capture some of the best views out there. Many historic places would also make the list like, “The Getty Villa”, the Greystone Mansion, Griffith Observatory, Downtown LA and of course Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles has the best energy, and food spots like Tacos 1986, to some of the best food all IN ONE PLACE such as The Grand Market (located on Broadway in Downtown), Pizzana (because pizza is ALWAYS A MUST), Dulan’s Soul Food Kitchen, or the Urth Caffé which are some of MANY places to try. Los Angeles also offers many places to explore nature without having to go very far which is also a blessing; we can pack our bags and head out to Big Bear where we can enjoy the quiet, the trees, and the snow(depending on the month), or go to places like Joshua Tree, we can go to any National Forrest to hike, explore and capture beautiful green trees, or even take a drive to San Diego and go to La Jolla and explore the caves there, we can also go to Palm Springs, Santa Barbra, or Big Sur. Honestly there is so much to do and see in Los Angeles, we can end our last days at an amusement park, and plan out our next trip.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My road hasn’t been easy but it wouldn’t of been possible without the love and support of my family and friends. My family has always been supportive since day 1, and even on the days that seem to be going wrong they are always there uplifting me and supporting me through it. My mom, who’s been my number one fan since day one, she has pushed me to continue pursuing my dreams and she’s the reason why I know I can accomplish everything I set my mind to; she teaches me about hard work, and what it takes to grow everyday; I’m a better person because of her. My acting studio also plays a huge factor in everything I do, the artists I’ve met there have also been such great inspiring souls to help improve my path and journey, aside from being incredible talented actors a lot of them are also writers, directors, photographers, artists, dancers, and great singers. Studio 24 Seven, has been such a great blessing for me because I’ve met and I’ve gotten to work with really talented souls who have made me want to improve my art and mind set. My acting coach Mark McPherson is such a blessing to me, my mentor, a producer, an author, a friend and a true inspiring person; he has taught me that you can do it all, you can accomplish all your dreams if you put in the work, stay focus and stay on your craft. I grew up in that studio, I started as a young 21 year old who was still trying to figure this new passion of mine; he helped me embrace my artistic side more, and he’s helped me grow as an artist which was something I didn’t use to call myself before I met him. THANK YOU, and last but not least my manager who has been more then a manager to me, he has become a friend, someone I can say I’m so thankful is on this journey with me. He is always looking out for me, and pushing me to be my best self; so thank YOU Ron!
