We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Kevorkian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helena, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?

I’ve always lived by the saying, “Do it the best, or don’t do it at all.” This saying pushed me, in every aspect of my life, to do things to the best of my ability. Whether I was in high-school as a member of the dance program, or applying to USC for my undergraduate degree, I remember putting all my energy and passion into it–and I still behave that way today!
However, (and I tell my younger siblings all the time) you can’t always be the best at everything and your outcome might not be what you hoped for. So, I’ve had some highs in my life where I felt on top of the world, but I’ve also had some lows and in those moments is actually where I learned the most about myself.
Determination, confidence, and faith don’t come without self-doubt and hesitation. I can’t lie when I say I didn’t and still don’t have moments where I feel like my goals may sometimes be too big. But, now I’ve learned that there has to be balance: do everything to the best of your ability and if it doesn’t work out to your plan, then it wasn’t the plan in the first place.
With that being said, I would want my legacy to be about resilience and the power you can hold by being the most true to yourself. If you can do it all, do it all! But in those times where you find yourself hitting a wall, have the confidence to stop and think, “this just wasn’t meant to be”!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am so happy that I get to do what I truly love doing. Part of my edge is that I am such a people-person whether it’s dealing with clients on a daily basis, getting to network with other professionals, or even meeting a random stranger and just striking up a conversation.

As a publicist, I get to work with several fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and hospitality brands and my most favorite part is being able to do it with incredible colleagues and clients along the way.

I started my career when I was in college, working as a Social Media Coordinator for a retail brand. There, I learned everything there was to know about digital media, algorithms, social media and what drives consumers to click that “add to bag” button.

In the Summer of 2019, I was able to take part in an internship in Dubai, UAE with a luxury goods and retail distributor as a Marketing Intern. This was probably the most important experience I could’ve had as I deep-dove into what makes the international market so different from the United States. I was able to learn about trade-marketing tactics, worked with several different fragrance and beauty brands, and was able to do it while living abroad for 3 months.

After graduating college, I began working as a full-time publicist because I found that acting as a liaison between a brand and the press is what brings me the most satisfaction! I work for a company that has incredible clients ranging from fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands and being able to see client visions brought to life, sharing their stories with the press, and working with incredible colleagues is what drives me to continue doing what I love!

You could say my experience is a shmorgishborg of some sorts! Part of why I love doing what I do is because I learned so many layers to this industry along the way. Learning about social media and marketing only makes me a better publicist and I hope to continue bringing incredible results to clients along the way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question because I feel like I am always out and about, trying to find the newest restaurant opening, and learning about up and coming places to go.

Breakfast would take place somewhere casual, yet good, like Alfred’s Coffee or Courage Bagels. If we want to hit up something more upscale I would recommend The Ivy on Robertson–their scones are incredible and there’s shopping down the street!

Lunch would have to entail a good ole ‘power lunch’ aesthetic. I would take them to the Sunset Tower Bar or the Cabana Cafe at the Beverly Hills Hotel. These are my two favorite places to have lunch and the McCarthy Salad at the Cabana Cafe is just to die for!

For dinner, I would take them to the Arts District in Downtown L.A. because they have the best restaurants! Factory Kitchen, Manuela, Bestia, you name it-they’re all pretty darn good! One of my favorite spots in Beverly Hills is Mr.Chows or if we want to have the best sushi, I recommend Asanebo which is in the valley!

For nightlife, I would definitely recommend going dancing at Bar Lis or having drinks at the West Hollywood EDITION Hotel!

Regardless of where we go, there really isn’t a place in L.A. that won’t be fantastic!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family, especially my mom and dad who have always supported me and my endeavors. My sister and brother, who make my life as the eldest so much more enjoyable and meaningful. Lastly, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the institutions that brought me up; my Armenian school that I attended from age 3 till high-school–AGBU Manoogian Demirdjian School– and the University of Southern California.
