We had the good fortune of connecting with Silvia Imperatrice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Silvia, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success for me is something that I’m aspiring to every day. My biggest success would be being able through my projects to raise people’s awareness on some of the problems that are oftentimes neglected by society. I’m creating and investing in projects that have a big social impact first for me and then for others. Problems like deafness or blindness. If I can just shed some light on those issues, I would consider myself successful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
From the time I landed in LA for my producing certificate at UCLA, I have produced 7 short films and worked on countless of sets. My work as a freelance producer allows me to help up and coming directors, writers and students see their project on the big screen. I’m very proud of myself, of what I have achieved so far and what I still need to achieve, of my determination, of having picked myself up when things weren’t going so good. Surely, this journey hasn’t been easy. I was in a foreign country where everything was different, but thanks to a great support system and my tenacity and determination I was able to keep pursuing my dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite place in LA is certainly Santa Monica. I’m in love with the ocean, it’s the one place I can go and find myself again. Whenever I was feeling low, I would walk 3 miles and reach the beach. Somehow all my problems seemed smaller and not so threatening anymore. I am so impressed by Los Angeles that I’d tell my best friend to just get lost in its boulevards and its greatness. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Personally, I owe a lot to my best friend and colleague Theo Francocci. He’s a brilliant and innovative screenwriter, producer and director. Ever since we met, I was immediately inspired by his humility and talent. We have been working on several projects that he wrote, produced and directed. He has also extensive experience as a sound engineer and mixer as well as music composer. I value our friendship and our collaboration a lot and I’m sure that our professional and personal relationship will guide us through some of the most amazing moments of our lives.
