We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalea McNeill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalea, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success would be my faith. “Faith without works is dead”. As long as I continue to work harder today than I did yesterday, I have no doubt that my career will continue to climb to the heights that God has intended for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actor and comedian. What sets me apart from others in the comedy realm is my material, everything comes from a past experience whether it be something that I personally went through or someone close to me. There’s no way for anyone to replicate my truth. With acting, what sets me apart is my look, my style, my talent, and training. Every role is tailor made for one person, it’s my job to become that person.
I’m most excited about what’s to come. I have some pretty exciting things planned for summer 2021 (comedy tours, film shoots), and I can’t wait to see where they take me.
I got to where I am today professionally by being honest, firm, punctual, and by having the talent to backup anything that I was requesting at the time. I definitely wouldn’t say that it was easy, but it wasn’t the hardest thing in the world either. Once you decide what you want for yourself, the only person that you can let down is you. Whenever I’m faced with a challenge I let it in, I analyze it for what went wrong, what I could have done differently etc. And when/if put in that position again, I know what not to do, and more importantly, how to overcome.
I want the world to know that I use fear as fuel to push me forward. I want them to know that my path may have taken a bit longer than others because I make sure that everything that I attach my name to is authentic, no shortcuts.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a good friend visiting town I would absolutely have to take them to Yamashiro Hollywood for dinner, make the reservation just before sunset and you have the most beautiful view of Los Angeles. We’d have to hit E.P./L.P. rooftop one night, chill rooftop vibes near WeHo. Speaking of WeHo (depending on where we are with restrictions) we’d definitely hit up The Abbey, Rocco’s, Trunks etc. The beach is a must (Manhattan Beach or Malibu). You also have to cater the trip to your friend so if they want to be a tourist, then of course Universal Studios, Magic Mountain etc

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many different people and organizations that have helped mold me into the person that I am today, as a blanket statement I would like to say thank you to anyone that has touched my life.

This shoutout, however is dedicated to my mother, Louise McNeill. She is the strongest person that I know, the lessons that she instilled in me will stay with me for the rest of my life. I wouldn’t be fearless if it weren’t for her.
