We had the good fortune of connecting with Hellè Weston & Lukis Mac and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hellè & Lukis, what do you attribute your success to?
We’re big on doing what feels right and following our intuition in our personal and business decisions. If something doesn’t feel right, we trust that and pivot.
We go inward for answers daily – whether it’s for small or big decisions. We’re not attached to what we think “should” happen, so we can adapt pretty quickly and embrace new ideas that support us to move forward.
We love what we do and deeply believe in the power of Owaken Breathwork to transform people’s lives so sharing it has felt natural and purposeful from the beginning. We know if our energy is right and our action-taking is consistent, success follows.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are the founders of Owaken Breathwork which is a direct experience of transformation and healing. We share events around the world and work with people from all walks of life – from people needing support with severe trauma and addiction, through to high performing athletes and creatives who are ready to go to their next level.
We created Owaken Breathwork to bring together ancient healing techniques with modern mindset tools, set to vibey playlists and guided by world class facilitators who have a deep understanding of the mind-body connection.
We’re originally from New Zealand and the two of us have been in a relationship for nearly 15 years. It’s been a wild ride full of learning and adventure.
Being in a relationship, living together, working together and traveling together; we’ve really had to learn the art of balancing solo time, couple time and business time.
We’ve been traveling non-stop the past 5 years, serving our global community so we’ve had to sacrifice a lot in terms of personal comforts and the stability of being established in one place.
We’re both very growth focused so we embrace the challenges and aim to have fun with it. Clear communication is a must and knowing when to switch-off for the day and relax is what keeps it sustainable longterm.
We reinvest in our own education and inner work continually which means we live outside the comfort-zone most of the time; doing things we’re scared and excited about, taking risks and playing big in the face of uncertainty.
We love what we do and are super grateful to be able to travel the world, create experiences that help so many people and work with clients we’re inspired by. It’s a dream come true and the hard work is 100% worth it to live a life that feels so on purpose.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Sunrise we’d wake up and go to Venice beach. We’d sit on the sand and do Owaken Breathwork and meditation while we set our intentions for each day. We’d walk and explore different areas of LA and there would be lots of delicious plant-based food stops along the way. Cha Cha Matcha for hot drinks, people watching along the Venice boardwalk, Erewhon hot food bar in Abbot Kinney, Melrose Ave for exploring rad shops and gluten-free pizza at Crossroads Kitchen. We’d throw in a good hike in nature, a live concert seeing one of our fave artists and some stargazing at a house with a hot tub under the night sky!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Inner work and connection to spiritual guidance has been the ultimate mentorship for us in our business. We wouldn’t be where we are without the guidance we receive and the wild unexpected opportunities it has led to… so a huge shoutout to the higher intelligence watching over us and to us for having the courage to pay attention to the signs!
