We had the good fortune of connecting with Hugh McCrae Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hugh, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always felt more comfort, joy, and fulfillment being creative. I never thought of pursuing an acting career until life just kept pulling me towards acting. Once I started getting roles I really couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Even with the high rejection rates and extreme competitiveness of working in a major market like Los Angeles, at the end of the day I am enjoying everyday I get to wake up a do what I do.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of the nominations and recognition I have received for the indie feature film I starred in that was premiered in 2021. The film “Human Resources” has won quite a few awards as well as a ton of nominations. I have received a couple Best Actor nominations as well. So right now that is what I am most proud of. The cast and crew worked so hard on the film and it has been doing well at the festivals, it very surreal to see your hard work get the praise it deserves.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would go to one of my favorite places first, the Santa Monica pier. I love people watching there and also the games and rides make it a lot of fun to hang out and chill. Nobu for lunch because it’s one of my favorite places to eat, I love the food there! Next we can hit all the usually suspects Griffith Observatory, Hollywood sign, Hollywood blvd, Universal Studios, La Brea tap pits, the Hollywood Museum, I mean I can honestly go on and on and on!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I just want to thank my family & friends for the constant support I get, I truly appreciate it!
