We had the good fortune of connecting with Idania Vanessa Quiroz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Idania Vanessa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have worked in the accounting industry for 15 years and know the ins and outs of the industry very well. Understanding how most accounting firms operate, I believe that I could contribute more to my clients by streamlining the process and offering more flexibility by going independent. I work with business entrepreneurs who have a passion for what they are building and partnering with them to help them achieve their goals fuels my passion and that’s why I started IQ-CPA.
What should our readers know about your business?
Starting any business can be a complicated, confusing, and even scary undertaking. I want my clients to know that even though they are in business for themselves, they are not by themselves. IQ-CPA focuses on helping entrepreneurs run their business like a business from day one. We assist our clients throughout the entity creation process, back-office systems installation, bookkeeping, tax planning and preparation ensuring that their business is set up for success. A lot of CPA firms offer a cookie-cutter package for every business regardless of size or industry but at IQ-CPA we are able to provide a customized package for each of our clients based on their individual goals. The success of our clients is our focus and want to support their dreams by helping structure and scale their businesses.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love hiking so I would definitely take my guests to the Griffith Park trails and work our way up to the Observatory. And since I’m in charge we’re going to eat at one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants, Shekarchi Grill in downtown LA. Will walk off our chicken kabobs with some retail therapy at the Bloc or 7th and Fig. We would cap the night off with drinks at Shoo Shoo Baby in the Financial District.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I take inspiration from my friends and my family. My parents are immigrants from Honduras and they really had to struggle to get to where they are at today. Remembering some of the struggles they went through to provide for our family fuels me to keep pushing when I think I’m having a hard time. I have many wonderful friends that inspire me including my Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority sisters who have accomplished so much collectively. I can’t forget to mention my best friend, my husband. He’s also a business owner and has pushed me to grow beyond where I thought possible.
