Meet Imani Robinson | Actress, Screenwriter & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an actor, writer and producer, I take pride in studying and mastering every aspect of the craft . My passion for media arts dates back to my early school years and as I grown as a woman, my ability to express myself through my artistry has likewise blossomed. I attended Baltimore School of Arts for high school, received my bachelors degree from Cal Arts and have worked in various jobs on independent and studio productions ranging from production assistant, to writing room assistant and supporting actress. For my latest project, I brought all my experiences to bear, writing, producing and starring in my own television series pilot. Through all the highs and lows of my process I have learned that passion, preparation and perseverance are essential to success. When the world thinks of my brand, excellence and authenticity will be at the forefront of their minds.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Brunch at my favorite Bed-Stuy Brooklyn coffee shop sets the day off. Before we leave the borough of Biggie, we take a stroll down Flatbush Avenue and patronize the cultural shops and fashion boutiques that are the heart and soul of the community. Next stop is the Village in lower Manhattan stopping by some of the coolest little books stores on the planet and the campus of the New York Film Academy to check out some friends. After a slice of pizza we’ll head uptown for a tourist stop in NY Times Square for some people watching then on to Harlem for a soulful meal just off 125Th street and a great live show at the world famous Apollo Theater to set the night off right… and that’s just the first day. New York is a vibrant city offering a treasure of cultural and cosmopolitan experiences from theaters, to libraries, to museums, to lounges, to boutique to high end stores. I take it all in and have adventures throughout whenever possible.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom, Noni Robinson for all her perseverance, encouragement and love.
