We had the good fortune of connecting with Issac Hwang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Issac, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Financial illiteracy is a dire crisis that has silently been wreaking havoc in our country. The “American Dream” has been misinterpreted into symbolizing materialism and short-lived aspirations rather than instilling Americans with aspirations of frugality and long-term investments. Financial irresponsibility is not seen only among our citizens but also in corporations and our government. However, citizens will always get the “shorter end of the stick” if we do not address financial illiteracy. Along with financial illiteracy, financial advisors are prevalent and accessible to the wealthy but excludes the other socio-economic classes. Financial services and education should be made to be more accessible to the other socio-economic classes. Currently, our future generations is learning about finance through social media and unsupported sources. The rampant era of misinformation is degrading financial literacy further and causing the general populace to learn by trial and error. The process of trial and error creates irreversible damages to a populace where every dollar counts. On top, the general populace do not have access to quality and affordable financial advisors who can guide and make a solid financial plan for their clients. Therefore, I started Cali Finance Group to offer solutions and a service accessible to the general populace. As a loan brokerage and consulting firm, we are a one-stop shop for all financial services and needs Most people often are left to find different financial advisors for their real estate, loans, and other financial needs. However, our company simplifies the search by offering all financial services at one place. Hence, we are able to provide a holistic and solid financial plan by understanding how each financial areas interplay with one another. We are confident that our experience and know-hows will make a difference in your financial future.
What should our readers know about your business?
I started Cali Finance Group with a simple notion that people need quality and affordable professionals. My personal experience with finance and other white-collar professionals (e.g. lawyers, agents, financial advisors, etc.) were disappointing. I expected them to be courteous and informing but received the opposite treatment. Despite being professionals, many lacked in their service. They were difficult to reach and I had to make a constant effort to receive updates and explanations. In addition, they charged by the hour which meant receiving billing every week and most professionals forego explaining hidden, miscellaneous fees. Hence, I am proud that my company charges a flat fee and provide 3 free months of consultation where clients can ask any financial questions.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a foodie and Korean American, I enjoy introducing my culture and diverse foods to my friends. I would probably take them to The Source in Buena Park or Koreatown in Los Angeles. After, I would search nearby neighborhoods to try authentic foods from different cultures.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
