Meet Indigo

We had the good fortune of connecting with Indigo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets my art apart from others is my focus on bars and lyrics. My lyrics touch on subjects that make the listener think outside the box while still having relatability. I am most excited about my new project that I am working on called Krash Landed On Earth, because I am integrating music to make people dance. I am really excited about mosh-pits, and getting people to stand up, let go and have fun It was not easy creating is definitely a grind within itself. I have been in the studio since I was 5 years old. Doing shows from NYC, DC, MD, and Los Angeles. I overcome challenges by adapting to survive. Also I overcame these challenges by making a team of creatives so I can produce from a collective mindset. The lesson I’ve learned along the way is you have to really believe in yourself because there will be days when your back is against the wall and you really can’t count on any one else and when that happens it’s all on you. I want the world to know that I want to spread love through my art whether that is music, graffiti, fashion, or film. I want to create worlds within my pieces that are full experiences in themselves. For example a song is a sonic experience or a video is a visual experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting Los Angeles I would take them to Pasta Sisters one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Culver City and Gya-Kaku Japanese Barbecue in Beverly Hills. In addition I would definitely take them to the Arc-light Movie theatre in Culver City and to hangout the Venice Beach Skatepark.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely want to shoutout Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights for raising me and making me the man I am today. Growing up in Brooklyn gave me the hunger to succeed in Los Angeles, by any means necessary, but still giving me strong moral values. My art is inspired by the graffiti , food cuisine, fashion, and my family that lives in Brooklyn. I have always felt like I had the greatest childhood growing up in Brooklyn because it is an afro-futuristic borough that exposed me to different cultures from a young age. Living in Crown Heights gave me the Caribbean foundation that influences my music and growing up in Bed-Stuy gave me a unique perspective on the rest of the world that I carry with me everywhere.
