We had the good fortune of connecting with Trae Rojo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trae, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Coming up in the Las Vegas music scene is a very unique experience. When i first started to gain a little traction and booked some shows I realized nobody in vegas really supports each other. It got a little bit better but everyone is pretty much sectioned off in their own lanes. This made me realize the only person that really has my back is me. None of the support out here is real, so I knew I just had to do my own thing.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very grateful that I has the opportunity to work with Atlantic Records artist Prince Taee. Not only did our collab help grow my name in the music industry but i also gained a valuable friendship. Through Taee I’ve had the opportunity to have conversations with some big names in music. I got to where I am by supporting and working with as many artists, promoters and local DJs as I could because in the end we all have the same goal. As a city we are stronger together than apart. There were some challenges along the way but that is to be expected. What wasn’t expected was Covid. I truly believed 2020 was going to be a great year for not only me but Vegas artists as a whole. I was booked to open for Jack Harlow, Guapdad 4000, DaBaby and more. So it was really disappointing for everything to get canceled. But there’s nothing I can do but keep grinding.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of my favorite spots in the city are my everyday places. Lucid house recording studio is always number one on my list. Thats where all the work gets done. Palms Place penthouse is another spot where we like to go and just let loose for a night and just vibe out. But in my free time skating is what keeps me sane. Desert Breeze skatepark is my local. The guys up there always keep me hype.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a lot of credit to give out. Without two of my closest friends from my camp DBM Peezy and KB Visualz, I never would have been able to break open the music scene in vegas like I have. Along the way I had the opportunity of meeting some crazy talented artists like DonEazy Griim and Yonderly ABM. They inspired me to keep pushing and that vegas really has a crazy amount of talent. So big thanks to all of them for giving me the mentality that I can really do anything with my music that I put my mind to.
